Hexcel is seeking an experienced and hands-on Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Maintenance Supervisor to lead and develop a team of skilled technicians supporting a complex chemical manufacturing operation. This role is ideal for a technical leader who is passionate about developing people, strengthening technical expertise, and improving equipment reliability.

The I&E Maintenance Supervisor will serve as a working supervisor responsible for providing technical leadership in instrumentation, electrical, automation, and process control systems while developing the capabilities of the maintenance workforce. The successful candidate will focus on mentoring technicians, strengthening troubleshooting skills, building accountability, and contributing to a culture of safety, reliability, and operational excellence. Success in this role requires a combination of strong technical expertise, leadership presence, hands-on involvement, and a commitment to building a highly skilled and engaged I&E team.

What you will do

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) maintenance team, building technical expertise, accountability, and a strong safety culture.
  • Provide daily supervision and serve as the acting maintenance leader when the Maintenance Manager and other maintenance leaders are not on site.
  • Develop the technical capabilities of technicians through hands-on mentoring, training, troubleshooting support, and knowledge sharing.
  • Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies for instrumentation, electrical, automation, and process control systems and serve as a working lead.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis efforts involving DCS, PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, analyzers, motors, and electrical distribution systems to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.
  • Assign, prioritize, and manage maintenance activities through the CMMS system while ensuring accurate work order documentation and closure.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Reliability, and other departments to improve uptime, product quality, and operational effectiveness.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of plant processes and equipment within the chemical and spin line operations to support safe, reliable, and efficient production.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements while driving adherence to maintenance standards and best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement, reliability initiatives, shutdown planning, capital projects, and system upgrades that enhance equipment performance and workforce capability.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience working in maintenance in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Prior experience managing and leading a skilled maintenance workforce required.
  • Expertise in the I&E field required, including but not limited to DCS, PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, calibration, and electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated team development and training ability. Proven ability to enhance the technical skills of direct reports and teammates through technical training, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or Associate degree is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success improving equipment reliability, uptime, and maintenance execution through workforce engagement, troubleshooting, and technical excellence.
