About this Infrastructure Manager role at ikeja
We are looking for a hands-on Infrastructure Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our Infrastructure department and manage our team of Infrastructure Leads and Technicians.
This is a highly operational and field-focused leadership role. The successful candidate will be a strong people manager who can set clear expectations, drive accountability, manage performance and ensure teams consistently deliver to a high standard.
You will also maintain a strong presence in the field, regularly visiting sites, conducting quality and spot checks, engaging directly with technical teams and ensuring that infrastructure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable balancing people leadership, technical oversight and operational execution - someone who is not afraid to get their hands dirty and take ownership of getting things done.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Infrastructure Leads and Technicians, driving performance, accountability and development across the team.
- Oversee the day-to-day running of Infrastructure operations, including team coordination, priorities and resource allocation.
- Maintain a regular field presence through site visits, spot checks and quality inspections.
- Ensure infrastructure deployments and maintenance activities meet required quality, safety and workmanship standards.
- Identify and address performance, operational and quality issues quickly and effectively.
- Coach and develop team members while building a culture of ownership and pride in workmanship.
- Drive continuous improvement across infrastructure processes, productivity and operational efficiency.
- Oversee preventative and reactive infrastructure maintenance.
- Work cross-functionally with technical and operational teams to support network performance and infrastructure requirements.
- Ensure appropriate control and use of tools, equipment, vehicles, stock and other operational resources.
- Support infrastructure planning and readiness as the business continues to grow.
Requirements
Technical Skills & Experience
- At least 3 - 5 years’ relevant experience within telecommunications or infrastructure, with a minimum of 2 years in a people management role leading technical or field-based teams.
- Strong practical knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure, deployments and maintenance.
- Experience with wireless networks, RF infrastructure and telecommunications sites.
- Knowledge across technologies such as MikroTik, Ubiquiti, microwave links, fibre/FTTH, IP networking and off-grid/solar power systems would be advantageous.
- Experience conducting site inspections and assessing technical workmanship and quality.
- Strong operational planning, problem-solving and organisational skills.
- A good understanding of health, safety and compliance requirements within a field-based technical environment.
Advantageous Certifications
- MikroTik MTCNA and/or MTCRE.
- Ubiquiti UEWA and/or UBRSS.
- Fibre Optic Association / FTTH certification.
- CWNA or equivalent wireless certification.
