About the Role
As a Legal Assistant, you will work closely with attorneys, senior legal staff, and team leadership to support Citizenship, AOS, SIJ-SAPCR, removal of conditions, and CPS matters. You will help keep cases organized from document preparation through client communication, filing, and ongoing case monitoring.
This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants practical exposure to immigration law and related legal proceedings while building skills in case management, legal research, drafting, and client service. You will receive ongoing guidance and feedback while taking ownership of meaningful work that directly supports case preparation and progression.
Responsibilities
- Keep Citizenship, AOS, SIJ-SAPCR, removal of conditions, and CPS matters organized by maintaining accurate case files, databases, folders, and tracking records.
- Support attorneys with the preparation of legal forms, petitions, affidavits, motions, orders, correspondence, and other case documents.
- Help move cases forward by monitoring filed applications and keeping case information and master tracking spreadsheets current.
- Communicate with clients to gather required information, provide case updates, and share next-service information under attorney guidance.
- Coordinate appointments, interviews, court dates, hearings, and other case-related meetings so attorneys and clients are prepared.
- Conduct immigration-related legal research and prepare clear summaries that support case preparation.
- Review legal documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before they move to the next stage of the case.
- Support CPS matters by communicating with relevant case parties and helping prepare motions, orders, and supporting materials.
- Prepare case summaries, affidavits, case folders, incoming and outgoing mail records, and other materials needed for efficient case management.
- Stay current on relevant immigration procedures and apply feedback from attorneys and senior legal staff to continuously strengthen your legal support skills.
Requirements
Must-Have:
- Professional proficiency in both English and Spanish.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with clients, attorneys, and other case parties.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail, especially when handling legal documents, deadlines, and case records.
- Ability to manage multiple legal and administrative priorities while maintaining accuracy.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace.
- Genuine interest in immigration law and the legal issues affecting individuals and families.
Nice to Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
- Previous exposure to immigration law, legal services, case management, or document preparation.
- Familiarity with Citizenship, Adjustment of Status, SIJ-SAPCR, removal of conditions, or CPS matters.
- Experience drafting legal forms, affidavits, motions, orders, or case summaries.
