Scope of Position: The Intercept Operator on the Glass Line uses a computer to input specifications which convert a thin roll of flat steel into channels which are notched and folded for spacing glass panes in windows. The channel is folded into squares and sealant is added to help the glass adhere to the channeling. Once the channel is folded and sealant has been added, the square is hung on a nearby conveyer that helps transport it to the Glass Toppers who will then add the glass panes to either side. Quality control paperwork will be filled out daily to ensure the highest level of productivity is achieved while maintaining quality specifications. Compliance with all safety programs is required. 

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Programming the intercept machine with proper specification and then using hand-eye coordination to catch the channeled steel and fold it into a frame where sealant is added to help with glass adherence.

  • Hang the folded intercept on nearby conveyer.

  • Maintaining steady flow of production by partnering with the Glass Toppers.

  • Working with the Production Manager, Area Coordinator and Team Leader to ensure manufacturing and quality performance standards are maintained.

  • Cross-training in production duties.

  • Completing and mastering the job with the highest level of safety and accuracy.

  • Listening and applying feedback from management to produce quality products.

  • Other tasks, as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in a production role or a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Possess the ability and desire to cross-train into other job functions, if needed.

  • Displays positive attitude and confidence. 

  • Team player with excellent communication skills.  

  • Accepts and implements coaching and advice from leaders and management.

  • Must be able to accurately read a tape measurer.

  • Basic Computer Skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Hand-eye coordination.

  • Able to function in a fast paced environment.

  • Able to push, pull, bend, and lift at least 25lbs.

  • Able to stand for long periods of time.

  • Other Physical duties, as needed.
