The Opportunity: 

CACI is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician, Journeyman to support facility infrastructure and environmental control operations across the Indo-Pacific. The HVAC Technician, Journeyman serves as CACI's skilled trades professional responsible for installing, operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and inspecting heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems supporting logistics facilities, Joint Theater Distribution Centers (JTDCs), Intermediate Staging Bases (ISBs), warehouses, maintenance facilities, administrative buildings, SCIFs, and expeditionary operations. Reporting directly to the Facilities Operations Manager, this position ensures mission-critical environmental control systems remain reliable and operational to support Government personnel, equipment, and sensitive mission systems. 

The HVAC Technician works closely with Government stakeholders, mechanical engineers, electricians, facilities managers, utilities specialists, construction personnel, SCIF managers, safety professionals, and mission partners to maintain commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems, climate control equipment, chilled water systems, ventilation systems, and refrigeration equipment. This position contributes to successful program execution by maximizing facility readiness, protecting mission-critical infrastructure, and ensuring safe and efficient operating environments throughout the Indo-Pacific theater. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Install, operate, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade commercial, industrial, and expeditionary HVAC/R systems supporting Government facilities. 

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, chilled water, and environmental control systems. 

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, airflow, controls, and automation system failures using industry-standard diagnostic equipment. 

  • Install and maintain HVAC control systems, thermostats, sensors, dampers, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and building automation system (BAS) components. 

  • Support HVAC systems serving warehouses, JTDCs, ISBs, SCIFs, communications rooms, maintenance facilities, data centers, and operational support facilities. 

  • Monitor system performance, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and equipment reliability while recommending improvements. 

  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, piping schematics, equipment specifications, and technical manuals. 

  • Coordinate HVAC support for construction, renovation, modernization, and facility activation projects. 

  • Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, work orders, refrigerant logs, and equipment lifecycle documentation. 

  • Ensure compliance with Department of Defense facility standards, EPA refrigerant regulations, OSHA safety requirements, and applicable building codes. 

  • Coordinate with electricians, mechanical engineers, civil engineers, and facilities personnel to resolve integrated building system issues. 

  • Support contingency operations, humanitarian assistance, disaster response, and emergent missions requiring rapid HVAC support. 

  • Maintain tools, test equipment, refrigerant recovery systems, spare parts inventories, and maintenance documentation. 

  • Promote preventive maintenance, energy conservation, environmental stewardship, and continuous process improvement. 

  • Support geographically dispersed and expeditionary operations requiring reliable environmental control systems. 

 

Qualifications: 

Required:  

  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting HVAC/R installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, or facility mechanical systems for Government, commercial, industrial, or Department of Defense programs. 

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Federal Government, commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities. 

  • Experience maintaining commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, chilled water systems, ventilation systems, or building automation systems. 

  • Experience performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, inspections, and corrective maintenance on HVAC/R equipment. 

  • Experience interpreting mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, piping schematics, and technical manuals. 

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex HVAC/R systems while maintaining operational readiness and safety. 

  • Active Secret Clearance

Desired:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree in HVAC Technology, Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, or a related technical discipline is preferred. 

  • Current EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigerant Certification is required; Journeyman HVAC License or equivalent state-recognized certification is highly desirable. 

  • Experience supporting USSOCOM, SOCPAC, Geographic Combatant Commands, Joint Task Forces, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC), or Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC). 

  • Experience supporting Indo-Pacific operations, expeditionary basing, overseas facilities, contingency infrastructure, or mission-critical Government installations. 

  • Experience utilizing Building Automation Systems (BAS), Johnson Controls Metasys, Trane Tracer, Siemens Desigo, digital manifold gauges, refrigerant recovery equipment, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Power BI. 

  • Knowledge of HVAC/R systems, refrigeration cycles, building automation systems, ASHRAE standards, EPA Clean Air Act Section 608, OSHA regulations, NFPA standards, and Department of Defense facility maintenance requirements. 

  • Professional certifications such as HVAC Excellence, North American Technician Excellence (NATE), OSHA 30-Hour General Industry, Building Operator Certification (BOC), or equivalent HVAC/R certifications are preferred. 

  • Experience supporting geographically dispersed Government programs involving OCONUS operations, Special Operations Forces, SCIF environmental systems, expeditionary facilities, and resilient infrastructure throughout the Indo-Pacific is highly desirable.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$51,800-$106,200
