OKC Landfill is searching for a heavy equipment preventative maintenance tech.

Pay: $24 - $30 per hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday with rotating Saturdays / Start time: 6 am / Working 40-50 hours per week

Our priority is to make sure we hire mechanics that care about the safety of our drivers and the service provided to the community. As a pm tech with us the minimum responsibilities are:

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance services on heavy equipment, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, fluid checks, and minor repairs.
  • Inspect and service hydraulic, electrical, suspension, brake, cooling, and air systems on heavy equipment and fleet assets.
  • Conduct thorough equipment inspections and identify potential mechanical issues before they lead to breakdowns.
  • Perform safety inspections and ensure equipment meets company and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment and basic computer systems to identify mechanical and electrical concerns.
  • Complete maintenance work orders, inspection reports, and parts documentation using fleet maintenance software.
  • Assist senior technicians with repairs and component replacements as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company safety standards and OSHA regulations.
  • Follow all lockout/tagout procedures, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Communicate maintenance findings and repair recommendations to supervisors and shop leadership.

What we need from you:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of preventative maintenance experience on heavy equipment, diesel equipment, or commercial vehicles preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to safely operate and inspect heavy equipment.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools and computerized maintenance systems preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license; CDL preferred or ability to obtain one.
  • Must provide a basic set of personal mechanic tools.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and work in difficult positions for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work around heavy equipment, moving machinery, vibration, noise, dust, and diesel exhaust
