Job Summary:

Manages and updates data in LUMA’s Geographical Information System (GIS) to maintain an accurate model of the electric transmission and distribution network. Models asset locations, electrical connectivity, and key attributes to produce a reliable GIS dataset that supports effective system operations.

Job Description:

  • Interprets drawings and field data to update the network model, ensuring accurate system representation and reliable documentation.

  • Maintains and corrects electrical connectivity continuity within Networks Core applications, improving system performance and reducing errors.

  • Analyzes circuit traces to generate reports and support data inquiries, enhancing decision‑making and operational clarity.

  • Updates the network model with extensions or upgrades to support system growth and maintain up‑to‑date infrastructure records.

  • Performs routine maintenance and repairs on equipment or systems to ensure optimal functionality and minimize downtime.

  • Follows technical procedures and safety protocols to complete tasks accurately and maintain compliance.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues to restore service and support operational continuity.

  • Documents work performed and updates records to ensure accurate tracking and future reference.

  • Follows established company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations.

  • Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services.

  • Performs additional tasks aligned with role expectations and qualifications to support team goals and operational flexibility.

Additional Job Description:

Education

  • Technical Degree or Associate's Degree in GIS, Cartography, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

  • 1–3 years of technical experience in GIS modeling, cartography, or electrical industry.

  • Experience working with one or more GIS applications commonly used in industry.

  • Experience working with the Networks Core suite of applications is preferred.

Competencies (Skills)

  • GIS Network Modeling: Updates and maintains electrical network models using Hexagon Networks Core.

  • Data Interpretation: Reads and interprets drawings, survey data, and field inspection points to perform accurate model updates.

  • Connectivity & Circuit Analysis: Maintains electrical connectivity and performs circuit trace analysis within Networks Core ..

  • Reporting & Documentation: Creates reports and supports data inquiries using Networks Core and Microsoft Office 365 tools.

  • Technical Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and GIS‑related tools.
