Job Purpose:

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the functional engineering team within HROC AMWA, consisting of Process Engineers, Reliability Engineers, Systems Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Outage Planners. Based in a central location remote to the plants, you will provide technical leadership, set priorities, drive performance, and ensure consistent implementation of best practices across all plants supported by HROC AMWA.

You will collaborate closely with plant teams, regional stakeholders, CCC specialists, and the Regional Coordinator to improve operational performance, asset reliability, quality, maintenance effectiveness, and process stability across the region. The role requires regular travel to plant sites and active participation in key operational, maintenance, reliability, quality, and improvement initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop the HROC functional engineering team consisting of Process Engineers, Reliability Engineers, Systems Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Outage Planners.
  • Define functional priorities, resource allocation, work plans, and technical support activities aligned with HROC AMWA objectives and business priorities.
  • Ensure consistent deployment of methodologies, tools, and best practices across all supported plants.
  • Coordinate engineering support activities across multiple plants and ensure effective collaboration between functional specialists, plant teams, CCC and regional stakeholders.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex technical, operational, reliability, quality, control system, and maintenance challenges.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on production performance, asset reliability, maintenance cost optimization, product quality, energy efficiency, alternative fuels, and CO2 reduction.
  • Lead the development and implementation of regional reliability, maintenance, process optimization, and quality improvement strategies.
  • Monitor and review key operational and technical KPIs across supported plants and establish action plans to address performance gaps.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing, technical standardization, and lessons learned across the region.
  • Support and coordinate major maintenance outages, shutdowns, commissioning activities, and plant improvement projects.
  • Ensure effective utilization of digital tools, predictive maintenance technologies, advanced process control systems, historians, analytics platforms, and other HROC technologies.
  • Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and plant teams to support technical evaluations, contractor management, and equipment improvement initiatives.
  • Support root cause failure analysis (RCFA), quality investigations, performance reviews, and corrective action and implementation across the region
  • Establish and maintain competency development programs, technical training plans, and coaching initiatives for plant personnel and HROC engineering resources.
  • Drive standardization of reporting, documentation, governance, and engineering work processes across the region.
  • Support HROC digital transformation initiatives and promote adoption of new technologies, automation, analytics, and AI-based solutions.
  • Ensure engineering activities are conducted in compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and company standards.
  • Provide regular performance updates, technical reviews, and strategic recommendations to the Regional Coordinator

Job Qualifications, Requirements & Experience:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in cement manufacturing, including significant experience in technical, operational, maintenance, reliability, quality, or automation functions.
  • Minimum 7 years of leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong knowledge of cement manufacturing processes, maintenance and reliability practices, control systems, quality management, and operational excellence principles.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams supporting multiple plants remotely within a regional structure.
  • Strong understanding of reliability engineering, process optimization, quality management systems, outage planning, and asset performance management.
  • Experience with digitalization initiatives, predictive maintenance technologies, advanced process control systems, and industrial analytics platforms.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP PM, Infor EAM, process historians, reporting tools, and engineering management systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and technical leadership capabilities.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop engineering talent.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage effectively with plant management, regional leadership, and international stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate fluently and effectively in English. Additional language skills are an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the AMWA region, including longer stays at plant sites when required.
