About the team and the role

The Cloud Data Technologies (CDT) team at eBay is responsible for data infrastructure and the end-to-end data lifecycle for eBay data, from onsite systems through to analytics use cases.

We are looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join the team and build scalable, high-performance applications across front-end and back-end systems. You will work with technologies including Java, Spring Boot, ReactJS, JavaScript, REST APIs, SQL, and Kubernetes, collaborating with Product, UX/UI, Data, and DevOps teams. You will also supply to the deployment and management of applications.

What you will accomplish

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable client-side and server-side applications, contributing across the full application lifecycle.
  • Build responsive web applications using ReactJS, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and JQuery, including effective application state management and user interactions.
  • Develop and optimize RESTful APIs and backend services using Java and Spring Boot, including integrations with third-party APIs.
  • Deploy and manage cloud-native applications using Kubernetes, supporting the containerization and orchestration of services.
  • Partner with multi-functional teams, including Product, UX/UI, Data, and DevOps, to deliver application capabilities.
  • Improve application quality and performance through unit and integration testing, fixing, debugging, and optimization across front-end and back-end systems.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to maintaining consistent code quality and engineering standards.

What you will bring

  • 6+ years of experience in full stack software development or a similar role, with strong experience developing backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Experience with ReactJS, including functional components, hooks, and state management such as Redux, alongside JavaScript ES6+ and asynchronous programming.
  • Experience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs, with familiarity with microservices architecture; knowledge of GraphQL or other API query languages is also valued.
  • Experience using Kubernetes for containerization, orchestration, and management of cloud-native applications, with familiarity with Docker and cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
  • Experience using Git and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment, as well as testing frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills; familiarity with Agile/Scrum development processes is valued.
