Senior Field Service Technician | Mokena IL

If you're someone who enjoys diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, working directly with customers, and keeping critical equipment operating at peak performance, this role was built for you.

As a Senior Field Service Technician, you'll be the technical expert responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, repairing, and maintaining Flygt wastewater pumping equipment and related systems throughout the territory. You'll work both independently and alongside customers, helping solve complex challenges while supporting critical wastewater infrastructure.

🛠 What You'll Be Doing

Pump & Equipment Service

  • Troubleshoot Flygt submersible and dry-pit pumps.
  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and service on wastewater pumping systems.
  • Conduct hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical testing of equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot control panel and electrical system issues.
  • Identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and emergency service work.
  • Support startup and commissioning of wastewater pumping equipment.

Customer Support & Training

  • Provide onsite technical support to customers.
  • Train customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Assist customers with troubleshooting and operational questions.
  • Communicate repair recommendations and service findings clearly and professionally.
  • Support customers both onsite and via phone when needed.

Field Operations

  • Operate and maintain a company service truck with crane and outriggers.
  • Perform service work at customer sites and Xylem Service Centers.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Operate forklifts, cranes, and material handling equipment safely.
  • Complete service documentation and work orders accurately.

The equipment you support helps municipalities, industries, and communities move, treat, and manage water safely and efficiently.

Your expertise will play a direct role in maintaining reliable wastewater infrastructure and helping customers minimize downtime and operational disruptions

🎯 What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2-5 years of technical field service, maintenance, or repair experience.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company vehicle requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical information clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with pumps and rotating equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting wastewater systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical controls and motor controls.
  • Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with SCADA systems, VFDs, and control panels.
  • Previous field service experience supporting industrial or municipal
