Overview

The Field Engineer (Landscaping) will be responsible for supervising and monitoring landscape construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs, project specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements. The role supports the successful delivery of external works, soft landscaping, hard landscaping, irrigation systems, and public realm features while ensuring high standards of workmanship, sustainability, and project performance

Your role

Construction Supervision

  • Inspect soft landscape works including planting, turfing, trees, shrubs, ground covers, and horticultural installations.
  • Monitor hard landscape works including paving, walkways, plazas, street furniture, retaining features, and decorative elements.
  • Verify installation of irrigation systems and associated landscape infrastructure in accordance with approved designs.
  • Ensure landscape works are executed using approved materials and construction methodologies.
  • Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and accepted construction practices.

Technical Review and Coordination

  • Review landscape shop drawings, material submissions, planting schedules, and irrigation layouts.
  • Coordinate with civil, architectural, utilities, and MEP teams to resolve interface and constructability matters.
  • Evaluate contractor technical queries and provide recommendations for landscape construction activities.
  • Assist in reviewing landscape design changes and value engineering proposals.
  • Support resolution of site-related challenges affecting landscape installation and project delivery.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Ensure all landscape works comply with approved quality plans, specifications, and contractual requirements.
  • Verify quality of landscape materials, plant stock, irrigation components, and hardscape elements prior to installation.
  • Monitor implementation of inspection and test plans related to landscape construction activities.
  • Identify non-conforming works and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.
  • Participate in quality audits, inspections, and compliance reviews related to landscaping works.

Irrigation and Plant Establishment Monitoring

  • Monitor installation and testing of irrigation systems to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with design criteria.
  • Verify planting activities are carried out in accordance with approved horticultural standards and planting specifications.
  • Ensure proper soil preparation, plant handling, planting methods, and establishment procedures are followed.
  • Monitor plant health, irrigation performance, and maintenance activities during the establishment period.
  • Support inspections related to landscape performance, sustainability, and environmental compliance.

Site Inspection and Progress Monitoring

  • Conduct regular site inspections to assess construction progress, quality, and compliance with approved requirements.
  • Monitor contractor productivity and resource allocation for landscape activities.
  • Verify readiness of completed works prior to inspections, testing, and handover stages.
  • Identify delays, risks, and constraints affecting landscape construction progress.
  • Provide progress updates and recommendations to project management and supervision teams.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with Client representatives, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and project teams on landscape-related matters.
  • Participate in site coordination meetings, progress meetings, and technical workshops.
  • Coordinate inspections and approvals with relevant authorities and stakeholders where required.
  • Support multidisciplinary coordination to ensure integration of landscape works with overall project development.
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders regarding landscape progress and quality performance

Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports covering landscape construction progress, inspections, and compliance activities.
  • Maintain records of inspections, approvals, testing results, site observations, and technical reviews.
  • Review contractor progress reports and verify the accuracy of landscape-related information.
  • Document non-conformances, corrective actions, technical comments, and site instructions.
  • Ensure all landscape records and documentation are properly maintained for audits, reviews, and project closeout.

About you

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Agricultural Engineering, Horticulture, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification in Landscape Architecture, Irrigation Design, or Construction Supervision is desirable.
  • Membership in a recognized professional landscape or engineering organization is preferred.
  • Additional qualifications in sustainable landscaping, irrigation systems, or environmental management are advantageous.
  • Training related to landscape construction, project supervision, or quality management is considered beneficial.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 8-12 years of professional experience in landscape construction and site supervision.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience on consultancy or construction supervision projects involving large-scale developments.
  • Proven experience in hotels, resorts, convention centers, mixed-use developments, public realm projects, and large building complexes.
  • Strong experience in soft landscaping, hard landscaping, irrigation systems, and external works construction.
  • Previous GCC experience, preferably within Saudi Arabia, is highly desirable.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of landscape construction methodologies, horticultural practices, and irrigation systems.
  • Thorough understanding of hardscape materials, planting requirements, landscape infrastructure, and site development works.
  • Experience in reviewing shop drawings, planting schedules, technical submissions, and construction documentation.
  • Familiarity with local authority requirements, sustainability principles, and landscape industry best practices.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD, BIM platforms, and landscape-related design and management software.
