Coho Integrated Solutions is seeking a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to serve as the Family Advocacy Intervention Specialist (FAIS) to support the Department of the Air Force Family Advocacy Program at Kadena AB, Japan. The FAIS combines the functions of the Family Advocacy Treatment Manager and secondary prevention lead and serves as a clinical subject matter expert in the prevention and intervention of domestic violence, child maltreatment, and Problematic Sexual Behavior in Children and Youth (PSB-CY).

The FAIS may augment a full-time FATM and will provide clinical, prevention, outreach, training, and community partnership services as directed by the Family Advocacy Program Manager (FAPM).

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary FAP team and clinical subject matter expert for domestic violence, child maltreatment, and PSB-CY prevention.
  • Perform the applicable clinical responsibilities of a FATM, including assessment, treatment, intervention, and case management.
  • Provide secondary prevention services and support the prevention component of the Family Advocacy Program.
  • Deliver New Leader Orientation and Annual Leader Training to Commanders, First Sergeants, organizational leadership, and key agencies.
  • Serve as the FAP prevention facilitator and FAP installation representative to the Community Action Team (CAT) and other key agencies.
  • Collaborate with FAP personnel, base organizations, and community programs to coordinate prevention activities and establish partnerships.
  • Develop, promote, provide, and implement FAP prevention service offerings under the direction and approval of the FAPM.
  • Implement social marketing strategies designed to increase awareness of domestic abuse, child maltreatment, and PSB-CY and promote family maltreatment prevention.
  • Ensure resource information is current, available, and accessible to military families.
  • Identify family violence trends and use available information to help focus prevention efforts.
  • Provide NPSP and FAST services as prioritized by the FAPM and support maltreatment intervention activities when otherwise delegated.
  • Document prevention services and activities in accordance with DAF FAP guidance, program standards, and quarterly reporting requirements.

Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Citizenship:
    • U.S citizenship is required based on contract requirements
  • Education:
    • Master's degree from a CSWE accredited school for LCSW candidates.
    • Master’s degree from a Marriage and Family Therapy program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) or a qualifying degree in an allied mental health field from a regionally accredited education institution in conjunction with a program of Marriage and Family Therapy study that is equivalent to the COAMFTE standards, as defined by the AAMFT for LMFT candidates
  • Licensure & Certifications (Current & Unrestricted): 
    • U.S. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) OR U.S. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) required
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from either:
      • The American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS) (Course C) or the American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/BLS (Heart Saver) Course
  • Experience: 
    • Two (2) years of full-time post-master’s degree experience (within the last three (3) years) in professional clinical counseling service programs to men, women, and children who are abusive or abused
    • Two (2) years’ experience (within the last two (2) years) working with children, families, and groups in clinical or community organization settings; or as program manager, with demonstrated responsibilities in program planning with the implementation of education and intervention services, and community collaboration
    • Experience working with professionals and agencies that provide community support and counseling intervention services to children and families
    • Must also have experience as a group therapy facilitator or co-leader
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Willingness to comply with the government vaccination requirements, reflected of CDC guidelines, for diseases including Hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, influenza, and proof of a negative TB skin test. This requirement is for any Family Advocacy Program personnel working with MTFs and requires personnel to receive the annual influenza vaccination.
