Job Overview
 

PlanetArt is looking for a Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the company’s Maintenance department. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the building facility and supporting the maintenance team in the production area.

Extended hours include scheduled 10- and 12-hour days as well as scheduled weekend hours during all peak periods. May be required to transfer to 2nd shift during peak periods. 

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates must be local to or willing to relocate to the Woodridge area.

What You’ll Do
Key Responsibilities
 

  • General Upkeep: Perform routine interior and exterior building maintenance, including plumbing, air lines, basic electrical, basic carpentry, drywall patching, and painting.
  • Preventative Facility Care: Replace light bulbs, swap HVAC filters, manage waste/recycling stations, and ensure breakrooms and restrooms are in good repair.
  • Safety & Exterior: Conduct regular building walks to inspect fire extinguishers and emergency exits, while maintaining exterior grounds (debris removal, salting walkways).
  • CMMS Usage: Utilize our maintenance ticketing system (MaintainX) to close out basic facility work orders and track inventory of building supplies.
  • Team Support: Support Maintenance Technicians with moving materials, basic prep work, or acting as an extra set of hands during larger equipment repairs.
  • Assist with the repair of powered conveyors and gravity conveyor sections.
  • Perform all other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

What You Should Have
Skills, Qualifications, and Requirements
 

  • Education: High School Degree or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 1-2 years proven maintenance and troubleshooting skills required – or any combination of education, training, or maintenance experience. (Prior facilities, custodial, or basic construction experience is a plus).
  • Communication: Effective communication skills with the ability to read, write, and speak English, working seamlessly with the broader warehouse team.
  • Tool Knowledge: Familiarity with basic hand and power tools (drills, wrenches, screwdrivers) and a strong willingness to learn.
  • Work Ethic: Self-motivated to spot and fix facility issues independently, with the ability to prioritize tasks with little supervision.
  • Physical Requirements: Able to complete various physical tasks such as climbing ladders, lifting, pulling, pushing, kneeling, or bending. Position requires regular lifting of up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience with CMMS maintenance ticketing systems.
  • Mechanical training
  • Maintenance and repair of conveyor systems
  • Ability to read and follow facilities overview drawings and layouts
  • OSHA certifications or other formal safety training related to the manufacturing industry

Working Conditions 

Employee will work in a manufacturing environment and be exposed to heavy machinery, dust, noise, frequent sustained walking and/or standing for prolonged periods of time, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds, and repetitive activities, including but not limited to climbing, pulling, pushing, grabbing, bending, stooping, repetitive hand motions to feel or operate objects, tools, computer or other equipment, and reaching with hands and arms.

The compensation range for this position is $22 - $26 hourly rate.
