Job Description

Engineering Program Manager – Audio Technology (Shenzhen)

Location: Shenzhen - Futian District, China
Team: Audio Technology Engineering
Reporting to: Engineering Manager, Audio Technology (China)

About Bose and the Role

Bose Corporation is expanding its Audio Technology Engineering presence in China and is seeking an Engineering Program Manager to play a foundational role in this growth. This position is based in our Shenzhen office and works closely with Bose’s global engineering, business, and leadership teams, including frequent collaboration with our U.S. headquarters.

This is a high-impact, foundational position within our China Audio Technology Engineering organization. You will help define how engineering programs are executed locally while ensuring strong alignment with global teams and business objectives. As our regional presence grows, this role will be instrumental in shaping operating models, collaboration practices, and execution standards.

Role Overview

As an Engineering Program Manager on the Audio Technology team, you will lead complex, cross-functional engineering programs that bring Bose audio technologies to market through external partnerships and global collaboration. These programs may include development of proprietary algorithms, acoustical hardware reference designs, audio tuning deliverables, or full system-level collaborations with external product development and manufacturing partners.

You will coordinate work across acoustical engineering, DSP, software, systems, electrical and mechanical engineering, quality, supply chain, and business functions—both within China and globally. Success in this role requires strong technical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence without direct authority across organizations and cultures.

Fluency in Mandarin and English is required, as the role regularly interfaces with local partners and global Bose stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional engineering programs across the full product and technology lifecycle, from early concept through delivery and launch
  • Define program scope, objectives, roles, responsibilities, schedules, and success metrics
  • Plan, track, and manage program schedules, budgets, and resource needs; proactively adjust plans to address risks and changing priorities
  • Coordinate hardware and software development activities, including system integration milestones
  • Identify, assess, and manage technical, schedule, cost, and execution risks
  • Serve as a primary Bose interface to external technology, design, and manufacturing partners
  • Build strong working relationships with engineering subject matter experts, functional leaders, and senior stakeholders
  • Support regional business development activities, including customer engagements, technical discussions, feasibility assessments and project scoping
  • Contribute to the development of regional operating practices and collaboration models as the China Audio Technology Engineering team scales

Required Experience and Skills

  • Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams, including acoustics, DSP, software, electrical, mechanical, quality, and supply chain
  • Experience working directly with external development and manufacturing partners
  • Program or project management experience in consumer electronics, audio products, or related high-volume technology industries (medical devices also considered)
  • Solid understanding of software development processes (e.g., Agile, JIRA) and hardware/software integration
  • Strong systems-level thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with project planning and scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project or equivalent)
  • Experience with cost estimation, budgeting, and program financial tracking
  • High level of ownership, adaptability, and willingness to operate effectively in ambiguous or evolving environments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required)
  • Master’s degree or advanced technical degree (preferred)
  • 5–10 years of total engineering experience
  • 3–5 years of product development experience
  • 2–3 years of experience in a program or project management role

Why This Role

  • Opportunity to help build and shape Bose’s Audio Technology Engineering presence in China
  • High visibility and close collaboration with global engineering and business leadership
  • Meaningful ownership and influence over how programs are executed locally and globally
  • Exposure to advanced audio technologies and strategic external partnerships
