The Role  

As an Engineering Manager at Forge, you will lead the engineering team responsible for the Trade Management domain, which powers critical trade settlement workflows across the platform. You will partner closely with Product, Data, Operations, and other Engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable software solutions that support the growth of Forge’s private market ecosystem. This role combines people leadership, technical guidance, and hands-on software development, requiring the ability to drive projects from planning through deployment while maintaining high standards of quality and execution. You will play a key role in advancing our technology, mentoring engineers, and ensuring the successful delivery of business-critical capabilities. 

 Responsibilities 

  • Lead and develop the engineering team responsible for the Trade Management domain, including trade settlement workflows and related platform services. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions. 
  • Own the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering initiatives for trade management, ensuring projects are delivered on time and aligned with agreed estimates. 
  • Provide technical leadership through architecture discussions, code reviews, and hands-on contribution across backend and frontend systems. 
  • Drive engineering excellence by promoting modern software development practices, operational reliability, and continuous improvement. 
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, data engineering trends, and industry best practices, and advocate for their thoughtful adoption where they provide meaningful business value. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • 3-5 years of engineering management experience leading and developing software engineering teams. 
  • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience using object-oriented programming languages such as TypeScript, C#, and Java. 
  • 2+ years of experience using Python or similar scripting languages for data-related workflows, with familiarity in modern data architectures such as data lakes and medallion architectures. 
  • Experience within Private Markets, Capital Markets, or Financial Services, with exposure to financial market data and trade lifecycle processes. 
  • Strong project management and execution skills, with demonstrated experience delivering complex initiatives from planning through deployment while contributing technically across backend and frontend systems. 
  • Experience working in Agile development environments and utilizing tools such as JIRA or similar project management platforms. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience designing and supporting real-time data processing systems and event-driven architectures using technologies such as Kafka and WebSockets. 
  • Experience managing or collaborating with distributed and nearshore engineering teams. 

For residents of New York, NY the annual salary range for this role is $225,000 - $250,000 + annual bonus. Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, bonus, and other factors
