Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years, HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. In addition to the projects ‘clean energy’ benefits, HPC will create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

The Electrical Engineer is part of the CI-BOP team and mainly perform the different electrical activities related to CI-BOP for HPC projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Support to building pilots for the electrical activities and in particular for the HT-HJ (Power Evacuation platform) and HF (Electrical Building) buildings.

• Electrical systems activities for the electrical systems (it mainly concerns Low and High Voltage systems.

• Support technical preparation or Review & Acceptance for the electrical scope of the contracts EPRE CI-BOP team is responsible for (e.g.: Power Transmission contract SZ3001, Hydrochlorination/CTE and Plant demineralisation contracts SZ3422 and SZ3421).

• Back office support to HPC during commissioning of the electrical systems. In this frame, they shall liaise regularly with the JDO team in order to provide a reactive answer to the questions they may raise.

Education, Experience and Skills:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

• Experience of producing design documentation

• Relevant experience in the nuclear industry

• Ability to effectively manage own workload in order to produce high quality documents and respect deadlines

• Proactive in developing positive working relations with others within the project

• Continuously looking for opportunities to improve quality of engineering studies and the subsequent documentation produced
