Now Hiring a Dispatcher in Weymouth/Abington, MA
Pay: $24.00-$26.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Hours: Approximately 55 hours per week

This position supports transportation operations serving Weymouth, Holbrook, and Rockland Public Schools, along with several private schools throughout the area.

Dispatcher Responsibilities
- Oversee daily routes, schedules, and bus assignments
- Coordinate driver and monitor coverage
- Monitor route performance and respond to delays or service disruptions
- Communicate route changes and operational updates to drivers and location leadership
- Handle heavy telephone and radio traffic throughout the day
- Receive and address scheduling concerns and driver questions
- Serve as a primary communication contact for school districts and private-school customers
- Counsel and coach drivers and monitors on operational expectations
- Help resolve student pick-up and drop-off concerns
- Maintain accurate dispatch logs, route records, and operational documentation
- Assist with charter reservations, billing, driver payroll, or other administrative responsibilities as needed
- Perform backup driving or miscellaneous clerical duties when qualified and needed
- Assist with the supervision of daily transportation operations
- Complete special projects and other assignments as requested
Dispatcher Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous dispatch, transportation, logistics, customer service, or terminal-operations experience preferred
- CDL preferred but not required
- Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond quickly when service needs change
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Computer literacy, including email, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and related systems
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work the full Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. schedule
- Subject to DOT drug testing and physical requirements when performing safety-sensitive duties. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
