Leads the strategy, development, and delivery of enterprise software and data solutions that support capital markets and prime brokerage functions. Directs teams in modernizing platforms, improving data quality, strengthening system performance, and implementing scalable architectures across complex business domains. Oversees engineering initiatives from concept through deployment, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory expectations, and enterprise technology standards. Guides multidisciplinary teams through solution design, data integration, system analysis, and cross-platform modernization efforts. Conducts code reviews and debugs complex issues in Python and SQL. Provides leadership in evaluating emerging capabilities, shaping engineering practices, and driving continuous improvement across applications and data ecosystems. Evaluates and integrates new technologies including Python quantitative libraries, time-series database, and cloud computing platforms.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manages the planning and execution of development activities and ensures engineering teams deliver high-quality solutions aligned to business and operational needs.
- Participates in architectural decision-making, including system design reviews, dependency analysis, and evaluation of solution alternatives.
- Coordinates the development and enhancement of data workflows, integration patterns, and information design supporting analytical, operational, and regulatory requirements.
- Guides performance and reliability initiatives by establishing expectations, assessing system behavior, and supporting improvements across applications and data environments.
- Supports efforts to improve data accuracy, reconcile multi-source data inputs, and establish processes that strengthen analytics, reporting, and downstream usage.
- Manages automation initiatives that streamline operations, reduce manual steps, and strengthen monitoring and delivery efficiency.
- Collaborates with partners across technology and business lines to define requirements, shape delivery plans, and align solutions with long-term strategic goals.
- Ensures documentation, specifications, and operational materials meet internal standards, governance requirements, and audit expectations.
- Provides coaching and support to engineering teams, promoting continuous learning, technical growth, and effective delivery practices.
- Contributes to initiatives that introduce new capabilities, modern delivery methods, and ongoing improvements across platforms and teams.
- Serves as a technical and strategic thought leader in quantitative development, influencing long- term technology direction.
- Recommends development tools, testing approaches, and model validation standards.
- Provides quantitative and technical solutions to complex problems and delivers technical assessments for strategic initiatives.
- Advises senior leadership on quantitative and technical strategy.
- Leads independent, complex quantitative, technical, and functional analysis across multiple initiatives.
- Develops original solutions to advance quantitative development capabilities.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and six (6) years of experience as a Director, Quant Development (or closely related occupation) designing and developing Operational Data Store (ODS) and warehousing applications within a prime brokerage environment using Oracle PL/SQL and Python.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and four (4) years of experience as a Director, Quant Development (or closely related occupation) designing and developing Operational Data Store (ODS) and warehousing applications within a prime brokerage environment using Oracle PL/SQL and Python.

Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) analyzing, architecting, modelling, designing, and developing Oracle database applications, data warehouses, and operational data stores within a UNIX environment using SQL Loader, SQL, and PL/SQL; creating design flows and Entity-Relationship (ER) diagrams, using Visio, Python (Dash), and SQL Developer Data Modeler; writing Oracle stored procedures, triggers, pipeline functions, and bulk processing, using bulk collect and composite datatypes; replicating, filtering, and transforming data from one database to another using Golden Gate Replication; developing workflows to integrate data across Oracle, SQL server, and Sybase; and creating batch jobs to process real-time high frequency, low latency locates for hedge fund clients using Advanced UNIX Shell and Python scripting.
- DE performing SQL performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO) using Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid control (OEM); diagnosing end-to-end database technology stack performance issues, using Oracle Automatic Work Repository (AWR), Oracle Active Session History (ASH), Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor (ADDM), and SQL monitor reports; and performing database architecture -- designing relational databases, performing indexing, partitioning, archiving, and implementing enhanced database monitoring and alerting solutions using Linux Shell scripting, PL/SQL programs, and Control-M scheduler.
- DE performing application build and deployment using Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools -- Jenkins, GIT and uDeploy; performing Agile programming, and Scrum and Test Driven Development (TDD), using JIRA and Artifactory; developing Machine Learning (ML) models using Python’s NumPy and Matplotlib; designing and developing prime brokerage rule-based compliance reports using SQL Server Report Definition Language (RDL) and Geneva Rule Script Language (RSL); developing secure file transfer using AXWAY and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Transfer Family with lambda functions for event driven processing; and building real-time data exchange pipelines using messaging frameworks -- Oracle Advance Queue, Tibco Rendezvous, IBM MQ, and Kafka.
- DE creating Oracle procedures, functions, triggers, packages, materialized views, and relational views using Oracle; supporting batch and intraday extract‑transform‑load (ETL) processes across operational databases; implementing schema objects, data processing logic, and performance enhancements using Oracle development tools and SQL; building real-time data exchange pipelines using messaging frameworks including Oracle Advanced Queue; and implementing secure file transfer using AXWAY.
Salary: $184,000.00 to $212,000.00/year.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
