Ultimate Medical Academy is a non-profit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus.

Purpose of the Position:

The Director of Career Services provides strategic leadership and oversight for graduate placement initiatives, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and industry demands. This role drives performance across the Career Services team, fosters cross-functional collaboration with Corporate Alliance and Graduate Success teams, and supports business development efforts to enhance employment outcomes and partnerships.

What you’ll do:  

  1. Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve graduate employment goals, ensuring alignment with institutional objectives and market demands.
  2. Team Development and Performance: Oversee training, coaching, and performance of Career Services staff, including managers, to build a high-performing and engaged team.
  3. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Corporate Alliance, Graduate Success, and Education teams to support advisory boards, drive business development, and enhance placement outcomes.
  4. Team Member Engagement and Opportunity Creation: Establish and maintain systems to identify employment opportunities, while cultivating relationships with employers to expand graduate job prospects.
  5. Graduate Support and Career Readiness: Provide career coaching and job readiness support to graduates, including interview preparation and guidance for securing employment in their field of study.
  6. Compliance and Institutional Alignment: Ensure departmental compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, while contributing to cross-departmental initiatives and institutional goals.
  7. Lead with Care: Lead, coach, and develop team members, fostering a culture of wellness, recognition, and engagement. Meet regularly with direct reports in one-on-one and group settings to provide feedback and cultivate/maintain a positive work culture.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned. 

Career Level Expectations:

  • Typically manages multiple teams or a department. 
  • Requires a high degree of responsibility for resources and frequently influences business decisions made by functional leadership. 
  • Owns short to mid-term (1-3 years) strategy, execution and operational direction for multiple departments which directly impacts the achievement of overall functional results. 
  • Problems faced are frequently complex and require extensive investigation and analysis in collaboration with others. 
  • Requires the ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches, and ability to communicate with executive leadership. 
  • Desire for growth and professional development. 

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of experience in recruiting, career services and employment assistance, or in sales.
  • Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
  • Ability to contribute to a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Computer literacy/basic computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize the technology required for the role.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Director level experience.
  • Strong analytical skill set.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.

Compliance: 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and carefully follow all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations, and internal policies and procedures.   
  • Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

Work Environment/Physical Demands: 

  • This is a remote position.
  • Home office set up, quiet place to work, and ability to hard wire into high-speed internet connection.
  • May require setup of computer equipment; accommodation consideration available upon request.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed. 

In addition to the compensation listed below, this position includes a cell phone allowance and eligibility for an annual incentive bonus.
