Moraga Post Acute is looking for a dependable and passionate Dietary Cook to join our full-time culinary team. If you take pride in preparing delicious, nutritious meals and enjoy making a meaningful difference in the lives of others, we'd love to meet you.

As a Dietary Cook, you'll play an essential role in supporting the health and well-being of our residents by preparing high-quality meals that meet physician-ordered diets and healthcare nutrition standards. You'll work alongside a dedicated team committed to providing exceptional care and outstanding dining experiences.

Position Summary

The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving meals according to approved menus, therapeutic diet requirements, and all food safety regulations. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen while ensuring every resident receives nutritious, appetizing meals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, standardized recipes, and dietary guidelines.

  • Follow physician-prescribed therapeutic diets, including diabetic, low-sodium, mechanical soft, puree, and other specialized meal plans.

  • Ensure proper portion control and attractive meal presentation.

  • Maintain food quality, freshness, and safe food handling practices.

  • Monitor and record food temperatures in compliance with food safety standards.

  • Assist with meal tray assembly and timely meal service.

  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, food preparation areas, and workstations.

  • Practice proper food storage, labeling, and stock rotation procedures.

  • Assist with inventory organization and supply management.

  • Follow all infection control, sanitation, workplace safety, and facility policies.

  • Work collaboratively with the dietary team to provide exceptional service to our residents.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Previous cooking experience in a skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation center, healthcare setting, or commercial kitchen preferred.

  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and food safety regulations.

  • Food Handler's Certificate required (or ability to obtain upon hire).

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.

  • Reliable, dependable, and committed to providing excellent resident service.
