WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Develop and maintain automation solutions using Python, Bash, PowerShell or similar scripting languages.
- Build reusable tools and workflows that eliminate manual processes, improve consistency and accelerate delivery.
- Design, develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform.
- Engineer and automate AWS cloud infrastructure using repeatable, version-controlled patterns.
- Build, implement and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps or similar tooling.
- Manage source code, branching strategies, peer review and controlled delivery of infrastructure and application changes using Git.
- Build and deploy containerised workloads using Docker, Kubernetes or equivalent container orchestration platforms.
- Engineer observability into applications, cloud infrastructure and delivery pipelines through consistent metrics, logs and distributed tracing.
- Build reusable OpenTelemetry instrumentation patterns using SDKs, auto-instrumentation and collectors as part of application and platform delivery.
- Embed automated testing, quality gates, artifact management and deployment controls into delivery pipelines.
- Integrate security controls, secrets management and policy checks into cloud and CI/CD workflows.
- Create reusable templates, reference patterns and automation frameworks that improve developer experience and engineering productivity.
- Develop technical documentation, engineering standards and implementation guides for DevOps and observability capabilities.
- Promote DevOps, DevSecOps and observability principles, automation-first thinking and secure engineering practices.
WHAT YOU’VE DONE
- Around 5+ years of hands-on DevOps, cloud or platform engineering experience, supported by a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent practical experience.
- Practical experience engineering cloud infrastructure, primarily on AWS.
- Good Linux knowledge and proficiency in Python, Bash, PowerShell or similar scripting languages.
- Hands-on experience designing and delivering Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform.
- Experience with Git and collaborative source-control practices, including branching, pull or merge requests and peer review.
- Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps or similar tooling.
- Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes and container-based delivery patterns.
- Understanding of observability as an engineering capability, with practical experience implementing metrics, logs and traces within cloud platforms and delivery workflows.
- Experience implementing OpenTelemetry instrumentation using SDKs, auto-instrumentation or collectors.
- Experience integrating automated testing, artifact repositories, quality gates and deployment approvals into delivery workflows.
- Knowledge of cloud and pipeline security, including identity and access management, secrets management and secure configuration.
- Experience working with Agile delivery practices and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
AND IF YOU’VE GOT SOME OF THIS, EVEN BETTER
- AWS certifications.
- Experience with platform engineering, developer enablement or self-service delivery capabilities.
- Experience with GitLab, configuration management or immutable infrastructure patterns.
- Familiarity with observability platforms and OpenTelemetry-compatible backends.
- Knowledge of software supply-chain security, policy-as-code and automated compliance controls.
- Experience working in regulated, highly governed or large enterprise environments.
- Experience designing reusable engineering standards, templates, controls or automation frameworks.
