Department Manager Design Validation & Usability Engineering

Lead a high-performing, diverse team of ~10 individuals overseeing the Product Validation and the Usability Engineering activities throughout the Life Cycle of the interventional applications (iApps) of our IGT (Image Guided Therapy) Systems Products. Additionally drive Validation and Usability Engineering to the next level of highly efficient, scalable, and customer-driven capability, enabling rapid release cycles aligned with modern software development practices in close collaboration with the other teams.

Your role:

  • Developing and executing a long-term strategy to maximize business value. Aligning the Strategy alignment with evolving customer needs while inspiring and contributing to cross-organizational initiatives.

  • Staffing, resource allocation, talent - and performance management while fostering a motivated and respectful work environment.

  • Quality Management Procedures, ensure compliance with the current Global Regulations and standards, participating in Audits and ensuring allocation of Subject Matter Experts

  • Building a network internally while also engaging with external suppliers for customer recruitment, usability, & regulatory consultants.

  • Supporting the shift left moving validation activities to data driven, automated, reproducible verification where possible. Leveraging simulation, virtual environments and digital, scalable validation techniques enabling a 6-weeks release cycle.

  • Driving customer centric development enabling software business growth by driving adoption by minimal lovable products combined with continuous customer value. Including ownership of post-market feedback and field performance data as input to validation and usability strategy.

  • Inspiring the iApps RnD community connecting to customers in a meaningful way

You're the right fit if:

  • Master or PhD in a relevant discipline with 10 years’ experience in the Medical Device Industry incl. working with the clinical domain

  • A passion to lead, coach and develop people and talent transforming for growth at the same time

  • Experience working in a regulated and process-oriented environment including experience in Audits

  • Experience in product development disciplines

  • Results focused with agility to balance multiple assignment across a matrix organization

  • DfSS Green Belt or Black Belt is preferred

  • Experience in doing Design Validation and Usability Engineering work is preferred.

How we work together 

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.​ Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.​ 

This role is an office role.
