Workplace: On-site, 4 days per week. Friday, Remote.
Location: Long Beach, CA
You will own the release and compliance backbone for our next generation interior display and infotainment hardware. The team designs like a consumer electronics group. You are the person who carries that work through our formal engineering process without slowing it down, and who translates requirements that were never written for a vehicle into requirements a vehicle program can accept.
Responsibilities
• Release parts in FEDEBOM and WERS across the product lifecycle, using FEDE and WERS as the master program BOM including key attribute data for all parts
• Author and drive ECOs, ECRs, and change actions to closure, including effectivity, interchangeability, and disposition of prototype inventory
• Support the Change Control Meeting, serve as the interface to program change control, and write change requests, gathering the required inputs from suppliers and internal teams
• Audit and maintain the BOM with correct part levels and usage through prototype builds and post Job 1, including surrogate to real BOM conversion and CAD to BOM alignment
• Translate team and supplier requirements into Engineering Requirements and Engineering Specifications in FEDE, including display and infotainment requirements that do not map cleanly to existing ES
• Identify validation, durability, and functional test requirements per ER and ES, and build and maintain the DVP through the FEDE DVP dashboard
• Author and drive Compliance Demonstration Plans and Reports, converting test results into accepted compliance evidence, and own traceability from requirement to test to evidence
• Own the release calendar and close requirement, release, and compliance gaps ahead of milestone gates
• Coach engineers coming from a consumer electronics background through our process
Required Qualifications
• BSME, BSEE, or systems engineering equivalent, 5+ years in design release, change management, or validation and compliance on hardware that shipped
• Demonstrated ownership of a BOM through a full prototype build cycle into production, including personally driving change actions to closure
• PLM and BOM release experience in FEDE and FEDEBOM, or an equivalent system: Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, Dassault Enovia, Oracle Agile PLM, SAP PLM, Arena, or Propel
• Formal change and release control experience in WERS, or an equivalent process: Engineering Work Orders at GM, ECNs in Teamcenter, Warp Drive at Tesla, an internal OEM release system, or ECO and ECR workflow inside Windchill or Teamcenter in aerospace or medical devices
• Requirements management experience in FEDE, or in IBM DOORS or DOORS Next, Siemens Polarion, Jama Connect, or Codebeamer
• Validation and compliance documentation experience producing Compliance Demonstration Plans and Reports, or the equivalent: AIAG DVP&R, homologation and type approval dossiers, FMVSS self certification packages, DO-160 certification plans and qualification reports, or medical device design verification reports and Design History File content
• Ability to read and synthesize complex technical and regulatory documents into actionable engineering requirements
• Working knowledge of automotive environmental and electrical validation: thermal, vibration, EMC, ESD, and occupant safety requirements where displays are involved
• Comfort being the only person in the room who knows how the process works, and the persistence to chase engineers for closure
Salary Range
• $140,000 - 155,000
• The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
