The Creative Designer works within the Design team to design visually compelling assets supporting all phases of creative campaigns. They will collaborate with internal and external global creatives to ensure a high-quality design consistent with SQEX creative best practices and visual standards, delivered across a variety of channels including social media, print, packaging, owned and operated, and paid media.

This role provides design support across digital, social, and print projects, including localization and versioning needs across regions. The ideal candidate brings creative energy, fresh ideas, and a strong understanding of our games and player community, translating that passion for the Square Enix brand into authentic, engaging designs that resonate with fans.

In addition to hands-on design, the Creative Designer will continue developing executional design skills while taking greater ownership of campaign assets from concept to final delivery. They will strengthen collaboration within the broader Design team and build confidence in creative decision-making and execution.

Roles, Responsibilities and KPIs

  • Design brand visual style guides and define Visual ID for all game franchises (key art, logo, textures, graphic devices, type, screenshots, etc.).
  • Execute announce, pre-order, demo launch and post-launch campaigns across retail/digital, physical, social media, paid media, and owned and operated channels according to campaign plan.
  • Provide design support for localization and versioning needs across regions, ensuring visual consistency across all markets.
  • Design presentation materials and templates.
  • Conduct complex image manipulation, composition, retouching, and digital compositing as necessary.
  • Execute bespoke creative initiatives between major marketing beats to drive engagement and retention (e.g., livestreams & digital events).
  • Understand the goals of a given project, knowing the right questions to ask and collaborate with producers and the Senior Creative Designer to find answers, taking feedback gracefully.
  • Collaborate closely with the team to ensure work meets campaign goals and creative quality standards.
  • Research current and new production technologies & techniques.
  • Performance measures: time to create assets, level of rework, high-quality creative ideas and deliverables, and familiarity with SQEX game properties.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Knowledge of current design trends and techniques.
  • Experience with packaging design and/or campaign execution is a plus.
  • Experience with Figma is a plus.
  • A passion for story, art, and conceptual thinking.
  • Experience with illustration and painting.
  • Experience in the game/entertainment industry.
  • Understanding of the art styles of Square Enix franchises.
