Our team is currently seeking a Court Assistant III to join a dynamic, innovative group of Court Assistant team members.

The position will involve a wide range of technical operations requiring specialized legal knowledge. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday.

This position is eligible for a hybrid remote work schedule upon completion of fifty percent of the probationary period. (Currently with up to two remote days per week).

This position is represented by Local 11 – OPEIU (Office and Professional Employees International Union, AFL-CIO).

We provide additional compensation to employees whose positions require them to use a second language in the course of their responsibilities.  Employees certified to offer bilingual services receive an additional pay premium of fifty dollars ($50.00) per pay period.

  • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills.

  • Proficient technological skills in computer programs and applications.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, peers, other agencies, and the general public.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

  

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience:

 

Two years of clerical word-processing and typing work experience, which includes at least one year of work directly related to the work of the class; or one year (45 credit hours) of post-secondary business, legal, or office occupational training or education may be substituted for one year of required experience.

Knowledge of: Modern office practices; business English, grammar, spelling, and punctuation; the operation of Court and court processing activity.

 

Selection Process:

Oral Interview - The interview will be job-related and may include, but is not limited to, the qualifications outlined in the job announcement. Top candidate(s) will continue the process.

 

Employee references will be conducted for the final candidates and may include verification of education.

 

It is the general policy of the County that new employees should be hired at the lower steps of the applicable range and advance through the range at the normal progression.

Examples of Duties

As a Court Assistant III, your typical daily responsibilities will be to:

  • Process administrative record requests;

  • Testify in court proceedings regarding District Court records;

  • Process appeals;

  • Handle all court exhibits;

  • Seal records;

  • Archive court records;

  • Provide information to the public, co-workers, and outside agencies concerning case or court process-related information;

  • Maintain multiple data and case management systems;

  • Assist in training of other assigned staff;

  • Actively advance District Court's mission and vision by promoting a culture of learning, innovation, inclusion, and respect.

Local 11.7

Salary Range

$28.12 - $37.96- per hour

Retirement Information

All Clark County employees must participate in a WASHINGTON STATE RETIREMENT SYSTEM PLAN (PERS, PSERS or LEOFF).Employee contributions begin the first day of work. Current contribution rates vary by plan but could range from 5% to 15% of gross pay, depending on the plan choice.
