We are seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer to own and evolve our Microsoft Azure cloud environment. You will be responsible for ensuring our infrastructure is secure, performant, cost-efficient, and aligned with business objectives. This role combines hands-on infrastructure management with strategic cloud modernization work. You'll design and implement cloud automation, improve deployment processes, strengthen platform resilience, and help drive our transition from legacy VM-based infrastructure to modern cloud-native architectures. You will collaborate closely with software engineering teams, DevOps, security, and leadership to advance our cloud maturity and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Azure Cloud Environment Management & Operations

Own the day-to-day operations and management of the organization's Microsoft Azure environment, ensuring infrastructure remains secure, stable, and performant in production
Manage Azure subscriptions, resource groups, and access controls; implement governance policies and ensure compliance with security and organizational standards
Administer Azure platform services including virtual machines, App Services, databases, storage accounts, and other core infrastructure components
Perform regular infrastructure health checks, capacity planning, and resource optimization to ensure systems meet performance requirements
Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues across the Azure environment, including networking, application hosting, and data services

Cloud Platform Modernization & Architecture

Lead initiatives to modernize legacy workloads and migrate from VM-based infrastructure to cloud-native solutions (containers, managed services, serverless)
Design scalable, resilient cloud architectures that support current and future application needs; evaluate new Azure services and technologies for organizational benefit
Collaborate with software engineering teams to assess workload requirements and recommend appropriate Azure services and hosting models
Contribute to the cloud roadmap and strategic architecture decisions; advise leadership on cloud investment priorities and technology direction

Infrastructure as Code & Automation

Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or similar tools; build reusable modules and templates for common infrastructure patterns
Develop automation scripts and tooling to reduce manual operational tasks, improve consistency, and accelerate infrastructure provisioning
Establish Infrastructure as Code best practices, versioning, testing, and deployment workflows; ensure code quality and documentation
Maintain and evolve infrastructure code as organizational needs change; refactor and optimize code for maintainability and performance

Networking & Security

Design, implement, and manage Azure networking infrastructure including Virtual Networks (VNets), subnets, routing, Network Security Groups (NSGs), and firewalls
Configure and maintain private endpoints, VPN connections, and hybrid connectivity to on-premises systems or partner networks as required
Implement network security controls, segmentation, and best practices to protect infrastructure and data; collaborate with security teams on security hardening
Support Azure security tooling and governance frameworks (Azure Policy, Azure Security Center, Azure Blueprints); participate in security audits and assessments

Deployment Processes & CI/CD Pipelines

Work closely with software engineering teams to design and improve CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or similar platforms
Improve deployment processes and hosting environments to enable faster, more reliable application releases
Configure and maintain build and release pipelines; support automated testing and deployment strategies
Troubleshoot deployment failures and assist development teams in resolving environment-related issues

Monitoring, Logging & Observability

Strengthen monitoring and alerting across the Azure environment using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and related tools
Configure performance baselines, define key metrics and thresholds, and establish alerting policies to provide visibility into system health
Implement centralized logging and log aggregation; design dashboards and reports that provide operational visibility for infrastructure and applications
Use observability data to identify performance bottlenecks, optimize resource usage, and proactively address potential issues

Resilience, Backup & Disaster Recovery

Improve platform resilience through redundancy, load balancing, auto-scaling, and high-availability configurations
Design and implement comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategies aligned with organizational RTO/RPO requirements
Test backup and recovery procedures regularly; document runbooks and playbooks for incident response and failover scenarios
Identify and address single points of failure; continuously improve system resilience based on failure analysis and industry best practices

Cost Optimization & Cloud Economics

Continuously identify opportunities to optimize Azure usage and reduce cloud costs without compromising performance or reliability
Analyze cloud spending and resource utilization; recommend rightsizing, reserved instances, spot VMs, and other cost-optimization strategies
Establish cost management practices and controls; track cloud spend against budget and provide cost visibility to stakeholders
Balance cost optimization with performance and reliability requirements; make informed trade-offs based on business priorities

Required Skills & Experience

Strong hands-on experience managing Microsoft Azure infrastructure and platform services in production environments
Demonstrable expertise with Azure core services including Virtual Machines, App Services, Azure SQL Database, storage accounts, and other managed services
Advanced experience managing Azure networking including Virtual Networks (VNets), subnets, Network Security Groups, firewalls, routing, private endpoints, and hybrid connectivity
Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code tools and concepts using Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or similar technologies
Experience supporting and improving CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms; familiarity with automated deployment processes
Solid experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, or equivalent platforms
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues across networking, compute, storage, and databases
Experience with backup and disaster recovery strategies, including Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery, or similar solutions
Proficiency with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation and infrastructure management
Understanding of cloud security best practices, Azure security tooling, and ability to implement and maintain security controls
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with software engineering teams, security, and cross-functional stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

Azure certifications such as AZ-104 (Azure Administrator), AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect Expert), or AZ-700 (Azure Network Engineer Expert)
Experience with container technologies including Docker, Azure Container Registry (ACR), or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
Hands-on experience with Azure security tooling and governance frameworks including Azure Policy, Azure Security Center, Azure Blueprints, or Defender for Cloud
Experience working across multiple cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) or familiarity with multi-cloud architectures
Experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub, including managing repositories, pipelines, and release management
Knowledge of cloud cost management tools and practices; experience with Azure Cost Management or similar solutions
Experience with serverless architectures (Azure Functions, Logic Apps) or event-driven design patterns
Background in on-premises infrastructure or hybrid cloud environments; experience with Azure migration methodologies
Experience with Infrastructure as Code testing, linting, and validation practices
Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and practices

Salary Range: ₹22,00,000 to ₹28,00,000 plus 10% bonus
