Circuit Design Expert

Pay: $80–$130/hour

Location: Global, fully remote

Job Type: Contractor (~15 hours per week)

Schedule: Flexible—you choose the hours and days you work, including weekends if desired

We are looking for a highly skilled Circuit Design Expert to contribute to an AI training project involving electronic hardware, circuit simulation, programmatic EDA workflows, verification, and Python.

The work involves creating, solving, reviewing, and validating engineering tasks related to analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF circuits. A representative task may require interpreting circuit requirements, producing or modifying a netlist or hardware description, running simulations or verification tools from the command line, analyzing the resulting outputs, and determining whether the design satisfies its electrical and functional constraints.

This role requires experience with real circuit designs that were fabricated, shipped, integrated, or taped out. Simulation-only academic experience is not sufficient. Candidates must also have experience with tools that support programmatic or command-line workflows.

What You’ll Work On

  1. Design, analyze, and validate analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF circuits.
  2. Translate electrical requirements into schematics, netlists, models, HDL, constraints, or simulation inputs.
  3. Run circuit simulation, synthesis, verification, or related workflows using command-line-accessible tools.
  4. Use Python to generate inputs, automate simulations, run parameter sweeps, control instruments, and analyze results.
  5. Evaluate voltage, current, power, gain, bandwidth, impedance, noise, timing, stability, thermal behavior, and other relevant outputs.
  6. Perform corner, tolerance, worst-case, transient, frequency-domain, or Monte Carlo analyses where appropriate.
  7. Compare simulated behavior with analytical calculations and physical measurements.
  8. Diagnose problems involving component selection, parasitics, layout, power integrity, signal integrity, thermal behavior, interfaces, or manufacturing.
  9. Review AI-generated circuit solutions and identify incorrect assumptions, invalid configurations, or unsupported conclusions.
  10. Develop reproducible reference solutions and automated verification checks.

Required Qualifications

  1. An MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline; or
  2. A BS in Electrical Engineering plus at least 1–2 years of relevant professional circuit-design experience.
  3. Meaningful experience designing analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF circuits.
  4. Experience with designs that were fabricated, integrated, shipped, or taped out—not only simulated.
  5. Practical proficiency with Python.
  6. Experience with at least one EDA, circuit-simulation, PCB, HDL, synthesis, or verification tool that supports CLI, scripting, text-based inputs, or a programmatic API.
  7. Strong understanding of circuit behavior, component selection, tolerances, failure modes, and design trade-offs.
  8. Experience with hardware bring-up, laboratory validation, design verification, or post-fabrication debugging.
  9. Ability to explain circuit behavior and technical decisions clearly.

Relevant tools may include ngspice, Xyce, Yosys, Verilator, KiCad scripting, SPICE-compatible simulators, HDL simulators, synthesis tools, or equivalent programmatic EDA software. Experience with a comparable CLI-accessible tool is acceptable.

Relevant Python tools may include PySpice, NumPy, SciPy, pandas, Matplotlib, cocotb, instrument-control libraries, EDA APIs, or internally developed automation tools. No single library is mandatory.

Process

  1. Apply to the role and complete the screening questions.
  2. Complete an AI interview of approximately 30 minutes.
  3. Complete a technical assessment, if required.
  4. Complete the hiring manager review.

Compensation Structure

Compensation is output-based. Experts are paid per task that meets the project specifications. The time required to complete each task may vary depending on the expert’s experience and workflow.

Minimum submission requirements apply.

Start Timeline & Availability

  1. We typically fill roles within 48 hours and are looking for experts who are ready to begin immediately. If selected, you will be expected to start your first task within 24–48 hours of completing onboarding.
