Camera Operator

Hamilton | On-site at racetracks | Part-time | Trackside brand

Bring New Zealand racing to life through high-quality outside broadcast camera coverage.

Why This Matters

At Entain, you’ll be part of a global business shaping what’s next in sports betting, gaming, and entertainment. Home to Ladbrokes and neds in Australia, and TAB, betcha, Trackside, and Sport Nation in New Zealand, we move fast, think boldly, and create experiences that reach and excite millions.

Be part of the team bringing live thoroughbred and harness racing to life for Trackside customers. As a Camera Operator, you’ll help deliver the clear, reliable coverage that keeps customers close to the action.

Your Day with Trackside

This part-time, field-based role is based in Hamilton and offers approximately 40 hours per fortnight. You’ll need to be flexible across weekdays, weekends, some public holidays, and occasional late nights. Availability on Wednesdays and Saturdays is essential.

From driving vehicles and transporting equipment to setting up at racetracks and taking live camera direction, you’ll work outdoors and help deliver a consistent Trackside broadcast across Taupō, Whangārei, and surrounding regions. From setup to broadcast, you’ll:

  • Operate broadcast cameras during live racing coverage, following direction on positioning and shot framing
  • Work with the outside broadcast team to deliver seamless coverage on air and on time
  • Pack, transport, set up, and dismantle broadcast equipment at racetracks
  • Drive vehicles to and from racing venues across the region
  • Report technical or operational issues and complete basic equipment checks
  • Complete administration, attend team meetings, and contribute to a positive team culture

What You’ll Bring

  • A full New Zealand driver’s licence and flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, some public holidays, and occasional late nights
  • Good physical fitness and confidence working at height in camera towers, and safely lifting and moving equipment
  • A team-focused approach, with the ability to take direction, work autonomously, and respond quickly and accurately
  • Good communication skills and a positive, reliable approach to work

Nice to Have

These are a bonus, so if you don’t have them all, we’d still like to hear from you.

  • A heavy vehicle or truck license
  • Experience working in live events, outside broadcasts, racing, sport, media, or entertainment
  • An understanding of camera operations or broadcast production
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Film, Television, Journalism, Media, or a related field

What You’ll Gain

You’ll join a connected, hands-on broadcast environment where racing, teamwork, timing, and live production come together.

  • Variety: Work across different racetracks and racing environments across Hamilton and surrounding regions
  • Growth: Build your skills in live broadcast operations, camera work, and outside broadcast delivery
  • Exposure: Be part of Trackside’s live racing coverage and collaborate with Directors, OB crews, commentators, presenters, producers, and on-course teams
  • Impact: Help deliver racing coverage that supports customers, racing communities, and the wider NZ racing industry

It’s a place to build your skills, connect with great people, and contribute to live broadcast moments that matter.

There’s nothing like it.
