We're looking for a hands-on Assistant Butchery Manager to support daily operations, lead and develop the team, drive sales, control stock and shrinkage, and maintain the highest standards of product quality, merchandising, hygiene, and customer experience in a fast-paced environment

Minimum Requirements

Minimum 2 years’ supervisory experience

Previous experience in a Butchery and Fish department

Knowledge of meat cuts, carcass breakdown, and production processes

Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards

Strong leadership and teamwork skills

Good operational and organisational ability

Strong attention to quality and hygiene standards

Problem-solving and decision-making capability

Ability to work in cold and wet conditions

The roles will be placed in the following areas, Polokwane, Midwaters and Hazeldean.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Stock Control

Assist with the day-to-day management of the Butchery and Fish departments

Support stock ordering, receiving, merchandising, and product availability

Monitor stock levels and assist in reducing shrinkage and wastage

Ensure attractive product displays and merchandising standards

Production & Technical Execution

Prepare and break meat carcasses and produce quality value-added products

Operate butchery equipment safely and efficiently

Maintain product quality and production standards

Ensure cold chain compliance and proper handling procedures

Hygiene & Food Safety

Maintain strict hygiene, housekeeping, and food safety standards

Ensure all equipment and work areas remain clean and compliant

Follow health and safety procedures at all times

Team Leadership & Customer Service

Supervise, motivate, and support team members

Assist with staff training and performance management

Deliver outstanding customer service and expert product knowledge

Build a culture of teamwork, urgency, and operational excellence
