The Batchmixer II is responsible for combining the raw materials into a quality blend or encapsulated form to produce finished products following strict guidelines for production to meet required standards. This includes performing those duties necessary to compound batches of various products, including encapsulation, weighing and blending, granulation, cleaning, packaging, warehousing, and any other required processes in accordance with approved production documents and appropriate operating procedures.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cleans and/or inspects for cleanliness and documents into log book the equipment and containers to be used for batch mixing in accordance with approved methods.
  • Identifies, verifies and documents the approved ingredients to be weighed for the batch.
  • Weighs using the metric system and/or verifies, and documents the previously weighed ingredients for the batch into the proper blender and blends according to approved procedures and methods.
  • Calculates active and inactive ingredients, depending on varying potencies in accordance with batch records.
  • Perform and is proficient in SAP transactions and in Mettler FreeWeigh.
  • Charges and/or verifies and documents the previously weighed ingredients for the batch into the proper blender and blends according to approved instructions.
  • Discharges the blend into appropriate clean containers, and transports the containers of the blend to the proper storage area.
  • Uses proper methods to inspect and/or clean equipment to be used on blends requiring compaction and milling and documents usage into logbooks prior to further processing.
  • Sets up compaction, milling and classifying equipment according to standard product guidelines.
  • Operates the compaction, milling and classifying equipment in accordance with proper operating and adjustment procedures to produce blend granulation that meets standard product guidelines.
  • Collects the blend granulation into appropriate clean containers that are properly labelled and places them into storage. Cleans, inspects, verifies, and documents the cleaning of equipment and containers as required according to approved methods and procedures.
  • Performs reconciliation of blends according to approved instructions and methods at each step of the process as required by the batch or blend Standard Operating Instructions.
  • Verifies and documents calculations performed by other batchmixers.
  • Assists on other jobs as assigned by supervisors.
  • Cross-trains as required to pull in-process samples for submission to QA, capsule machine operations, and production area cleaning functions.
  • Cross-trains as required to assist with coating process.
  • Cross-trains as required to perform as a “loan-out” in other departments (i.e. Packaging Warehouse or any other area resources are required).

QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS:

  • AS Degree in Chemical Technology or related field (preferred) or High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably Pharma/GMP manufacturing environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and comprehend cGMP's and SOP’s
  • Good math skills with a good working knowledge of the metric system
  • Above average physical stamina
  • Good vision and color perception
  • Ability to make accurate measures and maintain neat work environment
  • Above average mechanical skills and aptitude
  • Ability to work any shift and overtime as required
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Competence in use of Company standard software packages (e.g., Outlook, Word) SAP experience
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • High level of dependability and integrity.
