We are looking for a talented and driven Backend Engineer to join our engineering team and help build scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend systems. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in backend development, API design, database management, and distributed systems.

You will work closely with frontend engineers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to develop robust backend services that power our products and platforms. This role offers an opportunity to work on challenging engineering problems, improve system performance, and contribute to architectural and technical decisions.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications, services, and APIs.
• Build secure, reliable, and high-performance RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Develop clean, maintainable, modular, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
• Design and optimize database schemas, queries, indexes, and data-access layers.
• Work with relational and/or NoSQL databases depending on application requirements.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, production issues, and backend reliability challenges.
• Implement authentication, authorization, data validation, error handling, and other backend security practices.
• Integrate third-party APIs, internal services, and external systems.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to design efficient API contracts and seamless application workflows.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving coding standards and development practices.
• Write unit, integration, and functional tests to ensure application quality and reliability.
• Monitor backend services and troubleshoot issues across development, staging, and production environments.
• Contribute to system architecture, technical design discussions, and engineering documentation.
• Continuously evaluate new technologies and approaches to improve scalability, maintainability, and developer productivity.

Must-Have Skills

• 2–9 years of professional experience in Backend Engineering / Software Development.
• Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining backend applications and services.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, API development, and server-side programming.
• Proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Java, Python, Node.js, Go, Ruby, PHP, C#, or similar.
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and working with service-to-service integrations.
• Good understanding of SQL and database concepts, including schema design and query optimization.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and software engineering principles.
• Experience with Git and modern software development workflows.
• Ability to debug complex technical issues and optimize application performance.
• Strong understanding of security, scalability, reliability, and maintainability in backend systems.

Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with caching technologies such as Redis.
• Experience with message queues or event-driven architectures such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Exposure to NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, DynamoDB, or Cassandra.
• Understanding of system design and high-availability architectures.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
