About this Associate Creative Director, Growth Marketing role at Chime Financial, Inc
About the Role
As our Performance Creative Program expands, we're looking for an experienced Associate Creative Director to guide a team of designers, copywriters, and video editors in producing original creative based on insights, learnings, and strategic briefs. You'll operate as a player-coach — designing best-in-class creative yourself while mentoring and guiding the team. You’ll work closely with the Growth Producer, Creative Strategists, and Channel Managers to produce DR-minded content at scale across performance channels, and to drive performance improvements. You're equally comfortable concepting big ideas from scratch and executing final design, and you know how to translate brand identity into high-performing creative — not just optimize within it. You're AI-native in your approach to creative work, comfortable in prompting and directing AI tools to accelerate ideation and production without sacrificing craft or brand integrity.
The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $145,000 and up to $200,000. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
- Give effective creative direction and feedback across three distinct disciplines — design, copywriting, and video editing — ensuring copy, visuals, and video work cohesively together, and catching mismatches in tone, pacing, or message before final delivery
- Concept original creative ideas and campaigns, not just execute against existing briefs — bringing fresh thinking rooted in cultural and social trends
- Partner cross-functionally with Channel Managers, Creative Strategists, and brand teams — helping shape sharper, more actionable briefs, understanding what creative is winning and why, and ensuring DR creative stays true to brand voice and identity while still driving KPIs
- Collaborate with external agency and freelance partners — briefing them clearly, giving timely creative direction and feedback on their work, and holding it to the same bar as in-house output
- Guide creative approach across the full range of performance channels — paid social, organic/owned, CTV, print
- Set a quality bar rooted in brand consistency and performance, not perfection — helping the team know when something's ready to ship versus when it needs another pass, given the speed and volume DR/growth work demands.
- Champion AI-assisted workflows: identify where generative AI tools can speed up ideation, scripting, storyboarding, rough-cut editing, and asset variation, and coach the team on effective prompting and tool use
To thrive in this role, you have
- 8-10+ years in performance creative, including experience leading, mentoring, or managing designers, copywriters, and/or video editors (player-coach experience preferred)
- Strong concepting and ideation skills in addition to design execution — proven ability to originate creative territories, not just produce against a given brief
- Multi-disciplinary fluency: working knowledge of short-form video editing (hooks, pacing, UGC-style production) and copywriting fundamentals (hooks, CTAs, tone) — enough to give sharp, credible feedback outside your core craft
- Deep fluency in cultural and social trends, and a track record of translating them into performance creative
- Experience balancing brand guidelines with performance requirements, partnering cross-functionally with brand/marketing teams
- Experience managing or directing external agency, freelance, or vendor creative partners
- Experience across print, in addition to Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Mobile, and Google
- Experience directing or being on set for lightweight, fast-turn UGC-style production shoots — not mandatory, but a plus.
- AI-native fluency: hands-on comfort prompting and directing AI tools (e.g., generative image/video, AI-assisted editing, script or copy drafting) to support ideation and production, with the judgment to know where AI speeds things up and where it doesn't — not mandatory, but a strong plus.
