Role Purpose:

The Area Demand Generation Manager (ADGM) is a strategic demand generation leadership role responsible for designing, planning, enabling, and governing a scalable demand generation engine across the assigned area. The role is accountable for driving profitable growth, sustainable revenue generation, superior return on investment (ROI), high-quality demand creation, strong conversion, and farmer pull through disciplined and effective demand generation initiatives.

While business teams drive the quantity of execution, the ADGM owns the quality, strategic direction, planning excellence, capability development, conversion effectiveness, and ROI of demand generation activities within the area.

The ADGM is responsible for the end-to-end Demand Generation (DG) ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration of strategy, execution, customer engagement, liquidation, data analytics, and performance governance. The role works closely with the National Demand Generation Manager to align with national priorities, standards, frameworks, and governance while leading Zonal Demand Generation Managers to deliver execution excellence at scale.

Key Accountabiloties:

Business Delivery & Financial Impact

  • Drive area liquidation and purchase order (PO) delivery through optimized demand generation investments.
  • Ensure superior expense productivity and ROI across all demand generation activities.
  • Deliver sustainable revenue growth through effective farmer and retailer engagement programs.
  • Drive demand generation initiatives that directly contribute to business objectives and liquidation outcomes.

Area Demand Generation Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute area demand generation strategies aligned with business priorities and growth objectives.
  • Define farmer and acreage coverage priorities using customer calculators and market potential assessments.
  • Lead integrated campaign planning across crops, geographies, products, and channels.
  • Balance short-term liquidation objectives with long-term market development opportunities.

Capability Building & Team Development

  • Build and develop high-performing demand generation teams through training, certification, coaching, mentoring, and capability-building initiatives.
  • Establish performance management frameworks, incentive mechanisms, and recognition programs.
  • Assess manpower requirements and ensure adequate capacity, skill availability, and resource deployment.
  • Strengthen field-level commercial, agronomic, and customer engagement capabilities.

MUPA, Coverage & Resource Deployment

  • Own MUPA execution across Headquarters, Village, Retail, and Manpower layers within the assigned area.
  • Optimize resource allocation, activity intensity, retailer coverage, and market penetration.
  • Ensure disciplined coverage planning and village-level execution.
  • Coordinate with Commercial Excellence teams to improve territory planning and deployment effectiveness.
  • Ensure timely collection and submission of MUPA data post-season for future planning cycles.

Demand Generation Effectiveness & ROI

  • Drive demand generation effectiveness through analytics, governance, and digital enablement.
  • Improve farmer access through enhanced quality and quantity of customer interactions.
  • Ensure high conversion rates and maximize returns on demand generation investments.
  • Monitor coverage, reach, engagement, retention, and conversion metrics.

Campaign Planning & Activation Excellence

  • Translate marketing strategies into actionable field execution plans.
  • Design and execute integrated, high-impact demand generation campaigns aligned with national and regional priorities.
  • Ensure consistent execution standards, communication excellence, and customer experience quality.
  • Monitor campaign effectiveness through reach, leads, conversions, and ROI metrics.

Retail & Farmer Engagement

  • Strengthen retailer-led demand generation initiatives through Retail Value Levers (RVLs).
  • Enhance retailer and farmer engagement through customer outreach programs, crop tours, demonstrations, community-building initiatives, and farmer meetings.
  • Drive customer relationship programs to improve loyalty, advocacy, and retention.
  • Ensure effective retailer coverage and monitoring through disciplined engagement and review mechanisms.

Data Analytics & Digital Enablement

  • Establish a strong data-driven culture through dashboards, reporting, analytics, and performance tracking.
  • Leverage farmer, retailer, and market data to enhance decision-making.
  • Ensure adoption of digital platforms and reporting systems across the area.
  • Utilize insights to improve demand generation productivity, conversion, and resource utilization.

Market Development & Customer Insights

  • Identify and incubate new market opportunities, geographies, crops, pests, and product adoption initiatives.
  • Lead market development plans and investment strategies for long-term growth.
  • Integrate customer feedback, competitive insights, weather trends, crop conditions, and market intelligence into demand generation planning.
  • Analyze customer insight surveys and implement actions to improve customer satisfaction and retention.

Governance & Performance Management

  • Establish structured planning, review, reporting, and governance mechanisms.
  • Drive compliance with national demand generation standards and operating frameworks.
  • Monitor performance of ZDGMs through scorecards and review processes.
  • Lead area-level capability development and performance improvement initiatives.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Marketing, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification preferred.

Experience

  • Significant experience in Demand Generation, Commercial Excellence, Sales Enablement, Marketing Activation, or Go-to-Market execution.
  • Strong exposure to agriculture, crop protection, seed, rural marketing, or allied industries.
  • Demonstrated success in large-scale field execution, business planning, customer engagement, and capability building.
