Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is currently seeking an Aeronautical Engineer/Principal Aeronautical Engineer to support our B2 Subsystems team of diverse, qualified individuals. This position is in Palmdale, CA

The Level 2 or 3 Aeronautical Engineer (AE) – Vehicle Subsystems & Integration be a key contributor, on multiple aspects of aircraft subsystem development. The successful candidate will perform task assignments in electrical, mechanical and or hydraulic design and development.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Develop electrical wiring designs of a functional system including the selection of aircraft-type conductors and electro-mechanical components such as connectors, relays, switches, circuit breakers, terminal junction systems.

  • Support design requirements for electrical power generation, conversion and distribution systems, and circuit protective requirements for aerospace vehicle systems including Electrical Loads Analysis, test procedures, power architectures, reports, analyses, and other vehicle power related deliverables. 

  • Responsible for all aspects of system/component design and development including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting.  

  • May participate on a subcontractor management team and will act as the technical point of contact with suppliers for hardware development, qualification, and procurement

  • System level test planning, execution support, verification, data processing, and troubleshooting

  • System level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met

  • Create hydraulic and electrical schematics for functional systems, selecting aircraft type conductors and electromechanical components (connectors, relays, switches, circuit breakers, terminal junction systems). 

Basic Qualifications:

•     Engineer: Basic Qualifications for Engineer include a bachelor’s in science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of experience in Aerospace structural design OR an MS degree in STEM with 0 years of related experience

  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of complex problem solving

  • Experience in electrical and mechanical design

  • Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final U.S adjudicated government Secret clearance and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company

  • Principal Engineer: Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer include a bachelor’s in science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of experience in Aerospace structural design OR an MS degree in STEM with 3 years of related experience

  • Direct experience in electrical design in vehicle

  • Strong understanding of the engineering lifecycle

  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems

  • Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final U.S adjudicated government Secret clearance and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active U.S Government Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).

  • Experience with military aircraft subsystem development, with requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test and verification for advance aircraft

  • Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures

  • Catia V5 Design, Cable routing, Harnesys, Capitol

#Growth

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
