The Role

SoFi is looking for a Staff Technical Program Manager to lead our Vulnerability Management program—the primary mandate for this role—while also providing strategic oversight and driving maturity across other critical cybersecurity initiatives. This is a high-impact cybersecurity role focused on building durable program structure, improving remediation outcomes, and driving cross-functional execution across Security, Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, Enterprise Technology, Risk, and Compliance.

The ideal candidate has owned vulnerability management or adjacent security programs at scale and understands how to turn complex security risk into clear priorities, measurable outcomes, and executable plans. This person will not be expected to function as a hands-on vulnerability engineer, but they must have enough technical depth to operate credibly with security engineers, application teams, infrastructure teams, and senior leaders. The ideal candidate possesses strong 'soft-edge' skills to facilitate strategic action, drive cross-functional accountability, and transform complex security findings into measurable risk reduction outcomes. While technical depth is essential for credibility and navigating security domains, this role prioritizes your ability to influence stakeholders, navigate organizational dynamics, and convert ambiguous security data into clear, business-aligned risk reduction outcomes.

SoFi’s vulnerability management ecosystem spans multiple detection layers across code, containers, cloud infrastructure, endpoints, APIs, mobile, data, and secrets, with findings routed through centralized workflows and business-unit remediation queues. This role will help strengthen that operating model by improving prioritization, accountability, reporting, stakeholder alignment, and program maturity.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive the strategic program management of high-priority cybersecurity initiatives, providing governance and roadmap planning for critical security domains. This includes translating findings into actionable remediation priorities and using them to drive accountability and process improvements.
  • Own and mature the technical program strategy for SoFi’s vulnerability management program—the core pillar of this role—including roadmap planning, execution governance, prioritization frameworks, and measurable success criteria that scale across the organization.
  • Partner closely with Threat and Vulnerability Management, Product Security, Engineering, Infrastructure, Enterprise Technology, Risk, Compliance, and business-unit stakeholders to drive vulnerability remediation outcomes.
  • Build scalable operating rhythms for vulnerability intake, triage, prioritization, remediation tracking, escalation, exception handling, and executive reporting.
  • Improve risk-based vulnerability prioritization by incorporating severity, exploitability, asset criticality, exposure, business context, and remediation feasibility.
  • Drive cross-functional remediation campaigns that reduce risk, improve mean time to remediate, and create clear accountability across engineering and platform teams.
  • Define, track, and communicate program KPIs, KRIs, and operational health metrics for leadership, committees, and program sponsors.
  • Establish durable governance and reporting mechanisms that make vulnerability management progress visible and actionable for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Identify process gaps, tooling gaps, and workflow friction across vulnerability detection, routing, remediation, validation, and closure.
  • Influence technical decisions without direct authority by translating security risk into business impact, engineering priorities, and practical execution plans.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for operational improvement by analyzing recurring vulnerability patterns, identifying process friction, and driving sustainable remediation practices across teams.

What You’ll Need

  • 8+ years of experience in technical program management, security program management, security operations, product security, application security, infrastructure security, DevSecOps, or a related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated ownership of vulnerability management, product security, application security, cloud security, infrastructure security, or similar cybersecurity programs.
  • Experience driving large-scale, cross-functional programs across Security, Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, IT, Risk, Compliance, and senior leadership stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of vulnerability management lifecycle concepts, including discovery, triage, prioritization, remediation, validation, SLA management, exception handling, and executive reporting.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous security objectives into structured roadmaps, milestones, owners, metrics, and operating rhythms.
  • Experience using data, KPIs, dashboards, and stakeholder reporting to improve program visibility, accountability, and outcomes.
  • Strong technical fluency with modern software, cloud, infrastructure, endpoint, container, API, and/or application security environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex security topics for executive, technical, and non-technical audiences.
  • Exceptional 'soft-skills' including stakeholder influence, conflict resolution, and the ability to drive accountability without direct authority; proven ability to translate security risk into clear business impact to guide executive-level prioritization.
  • Comfort operating in a regulated environment where security, compliance, risk reduction, and business velocity must be balanced.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with vulnerability management platforms, scanners, or remediation orchestration tools
  • Experience building or maturing security KPIs, KRIs, dashboards, remediation SLAs, or executive risk reporting.
  • Experience with secure SDLC, DevSecOps, CI/CD security controls, software supply chain security, cloud security posture management, or application security programs.
  • Experience supporting audit, regulatory, issue management, MRA/CAP remediation, or other risk governance workflows.
  • Experience in financial services, fintech, banking, or another highly regulated technology environment.
  • Experience driving automation or AI-enabled workflows for vulnerability intake, prioritization, ticketing, remediation, or reporting.

Why This Role Matters

This role is an opportunity to materially improve how SoFi identifies, prioritizes, remediates, and communicates security risk at scale. The successful candidate will help mature a core cybersecurity capability, strengthen accountability across the organization, and build scalable processes that reduce risk while enabling engineering teams to move quickly and safely.
