What to Expect

Heron Power is a startup company building cutting-edge power electronics for the 21st-century grid. We aim to debottleneck the growth of electricity generation and consumption with scalable, innovative, and less costly hardware solutions, accelerating the electrification of everything.

We understand that no individual knows everything. We will all learn a lot together and from each other. We strive to build a collaborative, enriching environment conducive to personal, technical, and career growth. You can expect to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, driven by first-principles of engineering, solving difficult problems.

Job Overview

As Staff Product Manager for Business Applications, you will own the product strategy and roadmap for Raven, the connected suite of business systems that runs Heron Power's supply chain, factory floor, and back office. Raven spans our in-house Manufacturing Execution System (MES) at its core, alongside warehouse and inventory management, the Quality Management System (QMS), production and demand planning (MRP), recipe generation, new product introduction (NPI), analytics, and transaction history and genealogy plus the enterprise backbone of Finance/GL, Customer, Supplier, and Service portals that connect us to our customers and supply base.

This role is both strategic and deeply hands-on. You will define what we build, what we buy, and how it all connects, making the build-versus-buy calls on third-party platforms (ERP, CRM, P2P, and more), specifying requirements for the systems we build in-house (starting with the MES), and sequencing delivery across phases as Heron Power scales from early production into volume manufacturing. You are not writing tickets for a backlog someone else owns, you are setting the vision for how the company plans, builds, tracks, and ships product, and the data architecture that gives us visibility and traceability end to end.

How You Will Contribute

  • Own the product strategy, roadmap, and phased delivery for the RAVEN business applications platform end-to-end, from the in-house MES and core manufacturing and supply chain systems through the enterprise backbone and external portals, creating a coherent plan that matures alongside the organization.

  • Define and prioritize requirements for the in-house MES, the heart of Raven, covering work orders, routings, recipe generation, station resource management, data collection from printers, torque tools, and environmental monitors, and end-to-end traceability on the production floor.

  • Own requirements for the core modules WMS/inventory, QMS, production and demand planning, SPC, NPI, analytics, and transaction history and genealogy, translating operational needs into clear product specifications.

  • Own the integration points to external systems and portals including sales-order and telemetry flows to the Heron Care, Customer, Supplier, and Service portals, and the interfaces down to SCADA/PLC and factory management systems on the production floor.

  • Own compliance and traceability requirements, ensuring the platform captures the data, controls, and audit trails required to meet applicable compliance and regulatory obligations, and partnering with quality, legal, and operations to keep the company audit ready as it scales.

  • Partner deeply with operations, supply chain, quality, finance, and engineering to surface needs, resolve competing priorities, and ensure every system serves the people who depend on it daily.

  • Define the metrics and ROI for systems investments, translating platform performance and risk into clear narratives for operations leadership and executives, and using that insight to drive continuous improvement.

What You Will Bring

We are looking for a senior product leader who has owned operational and enterprise systems in a hardware manufacturing environment, can build structure without bureaucracy, move fast without cutting corners, and earn influence across every function that depends on these systems.

Must-Have Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field; equivalent demonstrated experience will be considered.

  • 8+ years of product management or business systems experience, including leading enterprise or operational software platforms in a manufacturing, supply chain, or hardware environment.

  • Deep, hands-on experience owning or implementing core manufacturing and supply chain systems — such as MES, ERP, WMS, QMS, or production/demand planning (MRP/APS) at scale.

  • Demonstrated build-versus-buy judgment, with a track record of selecting, integrating, and deploying both third-party SaaS platforms and custom-built applications.

  • Strong grasp of data architecture, system integration, master data, and traceability across connected systems, with a clear point of view on what infrastructure a manufacturing organization need.

  • Proven ability to deliver complex, cross-functional programs through influence rather than direct authority, aligning operations, supply chain, quality, finance, and engineering stakeholders.

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup, building processes, roadmaps, and systems from scratch with limited resources, and scaling both as the company grows.

  • Strong communicator who can translate system tradeoffs, risk, and ROI into clear narratives for operations leadership and executive audiences.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience standing up an MES and/or QMS from greenfield in a scaling production environment.

  • Experience in power electronics, energy conversion, or capital equipment manufacturing, with familiarity with the operational challenges specific to high-voltage or high-power hardware.

  • Hands-on experience deploying named platforms in this space, for example NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or Oracle (ERP/finance); CRM and procure-to-pay tools; or modern equivalents.

  • Familiarity with NPI processes and the systems that support the transition from prototype to volume production.

  • Experience with analytics, business intelligence, and data warehousing, including defining reporting and dashboards for operations and leadership.

  • Technical fluency with APIs, integration patterns, and SQL, enough to engage credibly with engineering on architecture and data decisions, including MES-to-SCADA/PLC and shop-floor connectivity.

If you are passionate about technology and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you. Join us in accelerating the electrification of everything at Heron Power.

Heron Power provides competitive compensation (salary and equity) and benefits. The salary for this role ranges from $180,000 to $200,000 per year.
