POSITION SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining Company financial records within the accounting software system and ensuring all records are accurate and submitted in a timely manner. 

This role reports to the Accounting Manager with a dotted line to the Senior Accountant. 

LAFC is currently operating on a hybrid work model with a minimum of 2 in-office days per week. Please note that this may vary by role, and your scheduled in-office days are up to the discretion of your supervisor. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with the month-end and year-end close process, including preparation and submission of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports. 
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank reconciliations, accounts receivables, and prepaids. 
  • Support accounts payable operations by assisting with payment issue resolution; ensure disbursements are accurately reflected in bank reconciliations, properly applied to vendor accounts in the subledger, and remittance information communicated timely. 
  • Perform daily cash reconciliations, including merchant and payment processor settlements; promptly identify, investigate, and resolve variances to ensure accuracy of recorded balances. 
  • Maintain and record fixed asset records to ensure accuracy and completeness. 
  • Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and internal reporting packages. 
  • Maintain Accounts Receivable ledger including invoicing, collections and working directly with customers and internal sales team.  
  • Support the annual budget process by managing related tools and templates and participating in business strategy meetings. 
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP and internal policies and procedures. 
  • Assist in preparation of MLS related reporting (post-game reporting, etc.). 
  • Review and approve employee T&E (travel and expense) reports; administer corporate card programs and proactively investigate, resolve, and follow up on discrepancies or policy exceptions. 
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy 
  • Assist in preparation of audit requests by providing schedules, documentation, and analysis to external auditors. 
  • Prepare tax-related filings. 
  • Assist with ad-hoc requests and other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management. 
  • Leverage strong technical aptitude with accounting and financial systems to validate high volumes of integrated data, identify inconsistencies, and recommend or implement corrective actions. 
  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and analytical curiosity, with a proactive approach to understanding the underlying drivers of transactions and variances. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College/ University in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required. 
  • At least 1-3 years' experience in Accounting or related position, within the sports/entertainment industry is a plus. 
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, internal controls, and variance analysis. 
  • Experience with Sage Intacct is a plus. 
  • Experience with CA tax filing is a plus. 
  • Detail-oriented, driven self-motivator with a strong work ethic to get the job done. 
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information as needed. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task successfully in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changes. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in English - both verbal and written. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships – both internally and externally. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs – Excel (pivots, lookups, etc), Word, Power Point, and Outlook. 

SALARY RANGE 

At LAFC, we carefully consider a wide range of factors to determine a fair and equitable compensation package. The final offer amount will consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience and training. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure guidelines, the compensation range for this role is $80,000 - $95,000 per year.
