Forklift Driver – High-Volume Distribution Center
Job Summary
The Forklift Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently loading, unloading, transporting, and staging products in a fast-paced distribution center. This role operates a forklift equipped with a double-pallet attachment to move two pallets simultaneously, maximizing productivity while maintaining safety and product quality.
Requirements
- Operate a sit-down forklift with a double-pallet attachment to transport two pallets at a time.
- Load and unload inbound and outbound trailers in a high-volume warehouse environment.
- Move, stack, stage, and replenish palletized products accurately and efficiently.
- Verify product counts and inspect loads for damage before movement.
- Follow shipping schedules and prioritize workloads to meet productivity goals.
- Perform daily pre-shift equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Adhere to all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and warehouse procedures.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, warehouse associates, and shipping personnel.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous forklift experience in a distribution or warehouse environment required.
- Experience operating forklifts with double-pallet attachments preferred.
- Ability to safely handle high-volume loading and unloading operations.
- Basic math and inventory skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and operate powered industrial equipment for extended periods.
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
- Ability to work in varying warehouse temperatures.
- Ability to bend, reach, twist, and climb on and off equipment throughout the shift.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced, high-volume distribution center.
- Frequent loading and unloading of trailers.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as applicable.
- Overtime and weekend work may be required based on business needs.
