QA Automation Engineer

About the Role
At Pavago, one of our clients is hiring a QA Automation Engineer to build, maintain, and scale automated testing systems for a fast-growing, product-focused technology company.
This is an automation-first engineering role focused on Playwright and TypeScript—not manual QA. You’ll work closely with frontend and backend engineers to strengthen regression coverage, eliminate flaky tests, improve framework reliability, and ensure high-quality releases across the development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Test Automation
- Build, maintain, and expand end-to-end automation using Playwright and TypeScript.
- Develop scalable automation frameworks for critical product workflows.
- Improve regression coverage across frontend and backend systems.
- Write reliable, reusable, and maintainable automated tests.
Framework Reliability
- Identify and eliminate flaky tests.
- Improve test execution speed and framework stability.
- Troubleshoot issues related to DOM interactions, asynchronous behavior, and network requests.
- Maintain reliable automation environments across releases.
CI/CD & Quality
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines.
- Support reliable deployments through continuous testing.
- Maintain test environments and test data strategies.
- Improve release confidence through automated quality validation.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with frontend and backend engineers throughout feature development.
- Participate in release planning and testing strategy discussions.
- Leverage AI tools to improve exploratory testing and automation workflows.
- Continuously improve automation coverage, reliability, and engineering best practices.
Required Experience & Skills
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright (Cypress experience is acceptable with willingness to transition).
- Proven experience building and maintaining end-to-end automation frameworks.
- Strong understanding of DOM interactions, asynchronous behavior, network requests, and debugging flaky tests.
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience building automation frameworks from scratch.
- Knowledge of test data management strategies.
- Experience testing B2B SaaS or multi-tenant applications.
- Familiarity with role-based access and permissions testing.
- Experience with AI-assisted testing tools and workflows.
- Startup or product-led environment experience.
