As a Pharmacy Technician I, Non-Sterile Compounding, you'll play a vital role in the preparation, quality control, and dispensing of custom compounded medications. Unlike a typical pharmacy technician role, this position offers focused, hands-on experience in non-sterile compounding techniques alongside cross-training in prescription fulfillment and clinical coordination support within an innovative, service-oriented environment. Key Responsibilities
- Prepares non-sterile compounded medications accurately and efficiently, following standard operating procedures and regulatory guidelines
- Maintains inventory of compounding supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage
- Collaborates with pharmacists to review prescriptions, ensuring appropriateness for compounding and verifying accuracy of information
- Performs calculations to determine the correct quantities of ingredients required for compounding medications
- Maintains a clean and organized compounding area, adhering to sterile and aseptic techniques
- Assists in the labeling and packaging of compounded medications, providing clear instructions to patients
- Maintains accurate records of all compounded medications, including batch numbers, expiration dates, and other essential information
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
- 6+ months of experience in a pharmacy setting
- Ability to work with pharmacy software, cloud-based communication tools, and mobile platforms
- Strong attention to detail, reliable time management, and a team-oriented attitude
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Fast-paced pharmacy setting requiring multitasking and attention to detail
- Collaborative team environment with cross-functional exposure to compounding, fulfillment, and clinical coordination
- May require occasional remote or telephonic patient interactions
- Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts
- Frequent use of hands for typing, data entry, and medication preparation
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
- Visual acuity required for reading prescriptions and verifying medication labels
