We are seeking an experienced OFCI Project Manager to join our team on a large-scale data centre project in Sines, Portugal.

The successful candidate will take full ownership of OFCI (Owner Furnished, Contractor Installed) packages, with a specific focus on heavy lifting operations, specialist plant movements (shifts), and crane coordination, managing delivery from procurement through to installation and commissioning.

This is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring all OFCI equipment and systems — particularly those requiring complex logistics and lifting strategies — are delivered, integrated, and commissioned in line with project schedules, budget, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of all OFCI packages, acting as the primary point of contact between client-appointed vendors and internal teams.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute complex lifting operations, equipment shifts, and crane activities in line with project programmes.
  • Develop and review lifting plans, method statements, and risk assessments (RAMS) for major plant installations.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of OFCI equipment — including logistics planning, transport coordination, site access, cranage, rigging, installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate mobile cranes, tower cranes, and specialist lifting equipment, ensuring safe and efficient utilisation.
  • Liaise with logistics teams, crane suppliers, rigging contractors, and site management to ensure seamless execution of critical lifts and shifts.
  • Monitor lifting operations to ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, lifting standards, and best practice.
  • Manage and mentor the OFCI team and lifting coordinators to ensure high performance and accountability.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure safe integration of equipment installations.
  • Chair stakeholder meetings with clients, vendors, and subcontractors, driving progress and resolving logistical and operational challenges.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, costs, and risks, particularly relating to lifting strategy, crane availability, and site logistics constraints.
  • Ensure all equipment and lifting activities meet technical, safety, and quality requirements prior to installation.
  • Proactively manage commercial and operational risks associated with lifting operations and specialist equipment movements.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health & safety procedures, including lifting operations regulations and site-specific safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience in M&E contracting or mission-critical/data centre environments.
  • Proven experience managing heavy lifts, complex equipment shifts, and crane operations on large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of lifting regulations, planning, rigging, and safe execution of major lifts.
  • Experience coordinating with crane suppliers, heavy haulage, and specialist logistics providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects from design through to commissioning within tight timelines.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience managing vendor performance and risk.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and engineering software.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-performance environment with a strong delivery focus.

Benefits

  • Working on large scale data centre projects
  • Collaborative team working environments
  • Career progression and development supported
  • Competitive salary packages
