Position Summary

The Math Intervention & Special Education Coordinator provides targeted mathematics intervention for students identified as academically at-risk while also coordinating special education documentation, reporting, and compliance to ensure adherence to federal, state, and network requirements. This role monitors student progress, maintains accurate compliance records, coordinates and participates in family IEP meetings, collaborates with teachers, related service providers, and school leadership, and ensures students receive high-quality instruction, appropriate interventions, and mandated supports that promote academic success. 

*This role is located at our Amber Charter Kingsbridge Elementary School (3120 Corlear Ave, Bronx, NY 10463)

Essential Responsibilities: 

Mathematics Intervention

  • Provide direct Tier II and Tier III mathematics intervention to individual students (Grades K-4) and small groups.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, research-based intervention lessons aligned to the New York State Learning Standards.
  • Differentiate instruction based on student assessment data and individual learning needs.
  • Monitor student progress using diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments.
  • Adjust intervention plans and instructional strategies based on student performance and progress monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate lesson plans, intervention logs, session notes, and student progress documentation.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention strategies with classroom instruction and student goals.
  • Communicate student progress with families and instructional staff.

Special Education Compliance & Coordination

  • Coordinate special education documentation and compliance to ensure adherence to federal, state, and network requirements.
  • Monitor timelines for referrals, evaluations, annual reviews, reevaluations, progress reports, and mandated services.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of IEPs, accommodations, service schedules, and required compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate and participate in family IEP meetings, ensuring timely communication and documentation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and administrators to ensure IEP accommodations and services are implemented with fidelity.
  • Prepare compliance reports, audit documentation, trackers, and required state and network reporting.
  • Maintain organized, accurate, and audit-ready student records in a timely manner.
  • Support school leadership during compliance reviews, audits, monitoring visits, and the writing of IEP documents.
  • Participate in Child Study Team (CST) meetings and contribute relevant academic data and recommendations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student records and information.
  • Participate in professional learning opportunities and required school meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree 
  • NYS Teaching Certification 
  • Special Education Certification
  • 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • 2 years providing mathematics intervention.
  • Experience supporting special education (SWD, MTSS/RTI)
  • Familiarity with high-quality K-4 curriculum programs, particularly resources that support development of struggling and at-risk learners.
  • Ability to attend occasional evening events as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace tools
  • Successful completion and clearance of pre-employment Fingerprinting and Reference check process.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree 
  • 4  years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • 3 years providing mathematics intervention.
  • Experience in math intervention strategies
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the Spanish language.

 Equipment:

  • Laptop, Promethean board, classroom, and office equipment. 

Work Schedule

  • 10-month work schedule with 10-month pay
  • One school-year assignment (September 2026 – June 2027)
  • Work hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Work Environment/Physical Effort: 

  • Regularly required to sit, stand for long periods of time, walk, climb stairs, speak loudly and clearly, visually observe, hear, operate a computer, and other classroom, school and office equipment, reach with hands and arms, bend down, and must occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 20 pounds. Work is being performed in a traditional multi-floor school environment with limited to no elevator access.

Compensation:  

Amber Charter Schools strictly follow a salary schedule for each role to ensure our continued commitment towards pay equity. The expected salary range for this role is $87,000 - $92,298, depending on verified relevant work experience, highest level of completed education, and required certifications and/or licenses for the role. This is an exempt position.
