Job Description
- Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard surveying techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications
- Processing design plans to staking files for field crews including review of the accuracy and constructability of the design prior to staking
- Conduct and oversee infrastructure and utility staking: ensuring proper site layout, control, and adherence to plans.
- Manage a field crew to perform surveying and staking projects
- Plan, schedules conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the surveying work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope
- Perform work that involves conventional surveying practice but may include a variety of complex features
- Direct conversations with clients at beginning, during, and end of projects
- Capable of supervising or coordinating the work of surveyors, technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments
- Ability to process and prepare drawings
- Coordination with other BGE departments internally and externally to operate as One Team
Job Requirements:
- 5 plus years of experience in Land Surveying to include Construction Staking is required
- Certification as PLS, SIT is a plus
- Drone Pilot License is a plus
- Strong Computer Skills, working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office is required.
- Experience with MicroStation is a plus
- Prior experience with civil engineering projects preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of BGE employees, clients, and other stakeholders
