About the Role (your why)

As a Knowledge Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the management of knowledge across a specific functional area within Datacom. You’ll help drive a knowledge sharing culture by developing processes, tools and practices that enable teams to create, manage and access high-quality information effectively.

Working closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders, you will be responsible for producing and maintaining clear, consistent and accessible knowledge content across a range of formats including manuals, support documentation, online help systems and reference guides. You’ll also contribute to improving information architecture, taxonomy and knowledge management frameworks to optimise the way information is shared and consumed across the business.

Our offices are based in Australia. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best!


Due to the nature of this role, Australian Citizenship is required and the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance

What you’ll do

At the moment, as Knowledge Manager you will be focused on:

• Developing processes, practices, tools and enabling capabilities that foster a strong knowledge sharing culture. • Supporting the maintenance and optimisation of internal knowledge for specific functional areas. • Reviewing and editing contributions from subject matter experts to create unified, consistent and high-quality support documentation. • Analysing program outlines and collaborating with stakeholders to produce user-focused manuals and knowledge resources. • Improving content templates, research methodologies and authoring style guides. • Defining and managing user roles and permissions to ensure information is presented to the right audiences. • Developing and maintaining information architecture and taxonomy structures to support effective communication and discoverability. • Coordinating with stakeholders responsible for search tuning, taxonomy, grading and dictionary maintenance. • Identifying opportunities to automate labour-intensive and repetitive tasks using Datacom knowledge management frameworks. • Supporting and contributing to a strong health and safety culture aligned with Datacom policies and practices.

What you’ll bring

Required experience:

• 5+ years’ experience in technical writing or knowledge management. • Specialist understanding of technical writing and knowledge management techniques and tools. • Advanced writing skills with the ability to communicate in plain English. • Proven ability to produce clear, user-friendly knowledge tools and documentation. • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to varied audiences. • Excellent stakeholder relationship management and collaboration skills. • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. • Strong presentation, planning and report writing skills. • Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for identifying and resolving problems effectively.

Nice to have:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Technology or a related discipline. • Knowledge Management certifications. • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional. • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional. • Programming experience in Node.js or Python.
