Overview – Role
Jensen Hughes is seeking an experienced Engineer - FLS Inspections to join our operations in Riyadh ,KSA. In this role you will be responsible for conducting technical inspections, audits, and evaluations of buildings, facilities, and systems (in completed or under construction stages) to ensure compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC), Civil Defense requirements, NFPA standards, and organizational safety policies. The role ensures that fire protection systems are properly designed, installed, maintained, and functioning to safeguard life and property.
This is a client-facing role and requires a solid technical understanding of Fire and Life Safety principles, and excellent communication & organization skills. In this role, you will demonstrate experience and passion in Code Consulting, Performance Based Design, Fire Protection Systems Design, and in recognizing hazardous conditions.
What we offer
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections of fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, hydrants, pumps, extinguishers, emergency lighting, and smoke management systems.
- Verify compliance with Saudi Civil Defence regulations, SBC 201/801, and relevant NFPA Standards (NFPA 10, 13, 14, 20, 25, 72, etc.).
- Conduct life safety audits covering means of egress, fire compartmentation, signage, evacuation plans, and emergency procedures.
- Review design drawings, shop drawings, and as‑built documentation for fire and life safety compliance.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports with findings, non‑compliance issues, and corrective action recommendations.
- Coordinate with contractors, facility management teams, and authorities to close out safety gaps.
- Support commissioning and acceptance testing of fire protection systems for new projects.
- Participate in risk assessments, emergency drills, and safety training programs.
- Maintain updated knowledge of local regulations, international codes, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 8 to 15 years of experience in the relevant field
- Strong knowledge of NFPA standards, Saudi Building Code, and Civil Defense approval processes.
- Experience with fire system testing, commissioning, and maintenance.
- Certifications preferred- NFPA Fire Inspector I/II /CFPS (Certified Fire Protection Specialist)/OSHA/NEBOSH
- Strong technical understanding of fire protection systems and life safety requirements with ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.
- Excellent report writing and documentation skills along with Strong communication and coordination abilities with stakeholders and authorities and attention to detail and commitment to compliance.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple inspection schedules while being able to travel across KSA , working in diverse environments.
