About the Role:

The Critical Asset Specialist plays an integral role, in being responsible for the expert management and optimisation of CDC’s critical infrastructure asset portfolio. This role applies advanced technical knowledge of electrical/mechanical assets, understanding how they operate and interact, to influence compliance, and lifecycle performance.

A core function of the role is interpreting detailed electrical and mechanical single-line diagrams, validating asset configurations, and ensuring maintenance strategies accurately reflect real system behaviour. The Specialist maintains technically accurate, complete, and risk‑aligned asset information within the Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS).

By combining deep system expertise with strong analytical capability, the Critical Asset Specialist delivers high‑quality asset data, optimised maintenance plans, and meaningful insights that strengthen operational resilience and long‑term infrastructure reliability.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Lead the facilitation, importing, and validation of assets and relation technical information (e.g. manufacturers, models, system configurations).
  • Develop, optimise, and manage both preventative and predictive maintenance plans for critical infrastructure assets.
  • Accurately input, maintain, and update vendor details and asset relationships within internal systems.
  • Act as a subject matter experts within our Enterprise Asset Management System - ensure compliance, technical accuracy, and high-quality data inputs.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure completed works and documentation are properly recorded and compliant in nature.
  • Develop and schedule maintenance work orders, aligned to system behaviour and operational risk.
  • Collaborate with a range of other internal teams, supporting with technical training on asset entry and EAMS usage.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability across all project activities.

Requirements

About you:

The ideal candidate combines a dedicated hands-on knowledge of complex electrical/mechanical systems (ideally from within a critical infrastructure setting), with a detail-focused and technically-minded nature. With a sound understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices, as well as Australian compliance and regulatory standards, the successful candidate will be comfortable working both autonomously and under pressure, within a dynamic environment.

  • Demonstrated experience within critical infrastructure or an asset-intensive environment (such as data centres, hospitals, laboratories).
  • Holding a trade qualification is a benefit, but not a hard requirement.
  • Proficiency in computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) and system monitoring tool concepts, ensuring information is accurate, up-to-date, and complete.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability, able to interpret complex technical information and turn it into clear insights.
  • Highly organised and proactive, managing competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Clear communicator who builds effective relationships across engineering, operations, IT, and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively, taking ownership and seeking opportunities to improve processes, data quality, and asset reliability.

Essential:

Australian Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance.
