The Arc of Ocean County is hiring compassionate and dependable Part-Time Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide direct care and meaningful support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in community residences throughout Ocean County.

Whether you're helping someone prepare dinner, learn a new life skill, participate in community activities, or simply enjoy their day, you'll have the opportunity to make a lasting impact while building a rewarding career in human services.

No previous DSP experience? No problem. We'll provide the paid training you need to succeed.

Position Information

Employment Type: Part-Time

Available Shifts:

Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Weekend Day & Evening Shifts Available
Weekend Availability Required

Pay: $20.70 – $24.70 per hour

Pay Schedule: Bi-Weekly

What You'll Do

Support Daily Living

Assist individuals with personal care, meal preparation, medication administration, housekeeping, laundry, and other daily routines.
Encourage individuals to build independence by developing practical life skills and making everyday choices.
Promote a clean, comfortable, and welcoming home environment.

Encourage Community Engagement

Accompany individuals to recreational events, appointments, shopping trips, volunteer opportunities, and other community activities.
Foster social interaction and encourage meaningful participation in community life.
Safely transport individuals using agency vehicles when assigned.

Provide Compassionate, Person-Centered Care

Deliver individualized support based on each person's goals, abilities, and support needs.
Assist individuals with behavioral, medical, and emotional challenges while maintaining patience, professionalism, and respect.
Protect the dignity, privacy, and rights of every individual served.

Work as Part of a Team

Maintain accurate electronic documentation, including daily progress notes, medication records, and required program documentation.
Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, families, healthcare professionals, and interdisciplinary team members.
Follow agency policies and residential procedures to ensure quality services and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.

High School Diploma or GED required.
Valid New Jersey driver's license in good standing with no more than five (5) points.
Demonstrated employment stability preferred, including at least one (1) year with a previous employer.
Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and professionalism.
Ability to perform the physical responsibilities of the position, including assisting individuals with mobility and completing household tasks as needed.

The Arc, Ocean County Chapter was established in 1955 as part of a national movement by parents of children with developmental disabilities. At this time, little was known about the condition and causes of intellectual disability and there were virtually no programs in communities to support families. Parents and other concerned citizens joined together to act as a voice for change and so began The Arc's journey

Today, The Arc, Ocean County Chapter is a thriving organization which continues to provide strong advocacy and extensive programs and services for people with disabilities to fully participate as active members of the local community.

The Mission of The Arc, Ocean County Chapter, Inc is to advocate, provide opportunities and supports necessary for all individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to be accepted and valued as citizens of the communities in which they choose to live, learn, work and play.

Our vision is based upon core values that we share with The Arc US which include that:

People with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families are valued, respected and included in all communities.
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities direct their own lives.
People choose their services and supports from many available sources.
Families are supported to ensure that a person with a disability is afforded the rights, duties, responsibilities, and full participation as citizens in their community.
