EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or related field or equivalent experience.
- Four (4) to six (6) years of accounting or related business experience.
- Prefer experience in the operation, maintenance, and end-user support of loan accounting, cash management, general ledger, and/or other loan accounting systems.
- Managerial and participation loan experience preferred.
JOB SUMMARY

Performs participation accounting functions and customer support for the association users and customers related to participation accounting, including reporting modules.

This includes responding to phone calls and e-mails promptly as well as following through to assure all issues are resolved in a timely manner.

Performs monitoring and reconciling of Participation Accounting functions and oversees direct loan portfolio of the Participation Accounting Department.

Responsible for managing all aspects of the direct loan portfolio assigned to the Participation Accounting Department.

This position works under moderate supervision in the application of generally accepted accounting principles as it relates to loan accounting activity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manages the direct loan portfolio for accuracy in the loan accounting system and monitoring/financial reports.
- Attend Pipeline/Deal Team Calls, tracks closings by reviewing draft documents, credit narratives, closing documents to ensure everything is accurate according to loan accounting standards and practices.
- Maintains accounting for participation loans as required to include setting up loans in accordance with the participation agreements; initiating wire transaction; updating interest rates and other terms; recording transactions; monitoring loans on a monthly basis to determine that loans are within parameters of participation agreements including rates, commitments, and fees.
- Corresponds with participation loan accounting departments within other institutions via email and phone to ensure good communication and cohesive reporting.
- Files documentation related to participation accounts in Treasury Services EFC.
- Be a customer service representative for direct loan customers when needed.
- Works with Commercial Ag Administrative group, Sales Desk, and Relationship Managers on all participations.
- Reconciles and/or monitors accounts and reports related to the Participation Accounting function.
- Reviews Bills/Statements/Rate Notices/Sold Loan Report for accuracy.
- Works with the Participation Accounting Director to develop and direct processes.
- Participates in training CFC personnel on requirements, documents, and tools related to participating loans.
- Provides fast and accurate support regarding participation accounting and/or related systems and processes. Provides guidance to end-users to assist them in participation accounting functions, as necessary.
- Assists with the development of new and improved processes to enhance participation accounting efficiencies. Assists in maintaining participation accounting procedures and documentation. Communicates procedures to end-users.
- Documents all customer issues utilizing an issue tracking system.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Position requires the ability to organize and handle multiple tasks at once and learn new applications and use of equipment quickly.
- Computer literacy required, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to accomplish accurate, detailed tasks in short time frames.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently to complete assigned projects.
- Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills are essential.
- Position requires good written and oral communication skills.
