About the Role

We’re looking for a Data Center Operations & Systems Technician to join our team. In this role, you’ll independently execute data center installations, repairs, deployments, troubleshooting, and operational response activities across server, network, storage, cabling, and supporting systems.

You’ll coordinate assigned work, maintain accurate technical and asset documentation, and help improve operational reliability and deployment readiness. This onsite role requires adherence to client best practices, security requirements, and safety protocols.

What You'll Do

  • Independently install, rack, stack, cable, configure, test, and maintain servers, network devices, storage systems, rack power distribution units, and associated rack and MOR cabling.
  • Perform and validate server and hardware repairs, component replacements, rack moves, equipment deployments, and IT equipment decommissioning in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Monitor server, network, storage, and device health. Analyze alerts, tickets, and logs to resolve moderately complex hardware, software, imaging, connectivity, and configuration issues.
  • Configure and validate switches, firewalls, wireless access points, IP addresses, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, domain access, and device-to-device communication within approved scope.
  • Image and deploy servers using MDT, WDS, PXE, or equivalent environments. Apply operating system updates, patches, firmware, and baseline configurations, then validate successful completion.
  • Plan and coordinate assigned installations, maintenance activities, and technical deployments, including implementation notes, readiness requirements, dependencies, rollback considerations, and validation steps.
  • Perform daily system checks, preventive maintenance, and operational response activities to sustain safe, secure, and reliable data center services.
  • Back up system and network configuration files, verify successful completion, and maintain recovery-related evidence and documentation.
  • Maintain technical procedures, network diagrams, maintenance histories, repair records, configuration details, inventory data, and knowledge documentation.
  • Prioritize assigned equipment and technical resources based on operational urgency, business needs, project readiness, and stakeholder requirements.
  • Generate operational, inventory, compliance, and project-status reports. Identify trends and escalate risks, blockers, and recurring issues with recommended next steps.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior technicians and contribute to training, peer review, documentation quality, and continuous process improvement.

What You'll Bring

  • Three or more years of hands-on experience in data center operations, systems support, network support, infrastructure deployment, or a comparable technical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently install, maintain, troubleshoot, and decommission enterprise server, network, storage, and cabling infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, switching, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, firewalls, wireless networking, domain access, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience with server imaging and deployment environments such as MDT, WDS, PXE, or equivalent tools, including patching and baseline configuration.
  • Experience using ticketing, inventory, asset-management, monitoring, and project-tracking systems with strong documentation discipline.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities, identify operational risks, communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical stakeholders, and work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work onsite, perform hands-on equipment tasks, and meet the physical and scheduling requirements of the assigned data center environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, networking, engineering technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • CompTIA Network+, Server+, Security+, Microsoft, Cisco CCNA, or an equivalent certification.
  • Experience updating network diagrams, implementation plans, maintenance procedures, or technical knowledge bases.
  • Experience supporting high-availability, safety-sensitive, or compliance-controlled infrastructure environments.

Compensation

At Blueprint, we strive to offer competitive pay that reflects the value of our team members. Compensation for this role is influenced by a variety of factors, including skills, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographic market.
