Who We Are 

We’re HealthCorps – a national, non-profit organization committed to improving lives by addressing health challenges in communities through programming that provides innovative and engaging experiences for teens in education, leadership, and service learning. 

Through our Teens Make Health Happen program, we empower teens by encouraging them to become change agents within their families, schools, and neighborhoods. Our work is grounded in the understanding that limited access to health education can lead to lifelong social, emotional, and physical challenges. 

Where You Fit In 

We're looking for a detail-oriented, curious, and reliable thinker who will support the development, organization, and improvement of HealthCorps curriculum. As a Curriculum Intern, you'll collaborate with staff across the Program and Education teams to help build courses, organize learning materials, and strengthen the content that powers our Teens Make Health Happen (TMHH) program. This role offers hands-on experience in curriculum design, youth-focused education, and nonprofit program delivery—while contributing directly to high-quality learning experiences for students and facilitators. 

Requirements

What You'll Do 

Curriculum Design & Content Creation  

• Support the collection and integration of activity modifications for different age groups, class sizes, language learners, learning environments, and instructional formats to promote inclusive and adaptable learning experiences. 

• Contribute to the creation of new curriculum and educational materials by drafting objectives, facilitator guidance, hands-on activities, and visual aids or diagrams. 

• Support the creation of zine spreads and student-facing resources, maintaining consistency with organizational branding and accessibility guidelines. 

Learning Development 

• Support the development, organization, and refinement of curriculum facilitation materials across multiple formats—including digital courses on the learning management system, downloadable PDFs, and physical binder-based resources—contributing to clear structure, logical flow, and youth-centered design across all content types. 

• Assist in organizing professional development (PD) content for managers and facilitators.  

Digital Content Management & Organization  

• Maintain and update the Curriculum Hub (SharePoint) by organizing files, revising module structures, and ensuring all materials – templates and existing resources – consistently align with current formatting and style standards.  

Collaboration & Teamwork   

• Work closely with the Curriculum, Evaluation, and Mentor Engagement teams to support ongoing national initiatives. 

• Participate in team discussions and projects, contributing ideas that strengthen curriculum development and youth engagement efforts. 

Minimum Qualifications 

• Current undergraduate student, or recent graduate, studying education, public health, psychology, social sciences, communications, or related field.  

• In good academic standing (if currently enrolled).  

• Ability to commit 6-8 hours per week for at least one semester. 

• Basic writing skills with the ability to draft clear, youth-friendly content. 

• Reliable organizational habits, attention to detail, and comfort managing digital files. 

• Proficiency with standard productivity tools (Google Workspace and Microsoft Office). 

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and stay on top of assigned tasks. 

• Interest in adolescent health, wellness, or youth education. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience supporting youth programming, peer education, tutoring, mentoring, or after-school programs. 

• Strong writing skills with an ability to adapt tone for youth, facilitators, and general audiences. 

• Interest in curriculum design, instructional strategies, and health/wellness education for adolescents. 

• Comfortable organizing digital content and managing files across platforms like SharePoint, Google Drive, or similar systems. 

• Familiarity with Canva or other basic design tools to support visual formatting and layout. 

• Comfortable conducting light research using reputable health, education, or youth development sources. 

• Strong attention to detail, especially in formatting, proofreading, version-tracking, or file organization. 

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while communicating regularly with supervisors and teammates. 

• Interest in creating inclusive, developmentally responsive, and trauma-informed learning experiences. 

Physical Requirements 

• Ability to work remotely with reliable internet access.  

• If local to area: ability to travel to program sites and events as needed.  

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.  

• Must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively in a fully remote environment.

College Credit: 

HealthCorps will work with you and your university to offer college credit* for the internship, if applicable. 

*Depending on the specific requirements and guidelines of your university, this may be in the form of college or course credit, practicum hours, or internship credit. 

Stipend: 

You will receive a stipend intended to help alleviate potential costs that you may incur from participating in the program. You may use these funds for whatever you feel you need it for (technology needs, professional development materials, transportation for any local site visits, etc.) and it will be distributed in monthly installments. 

Networking Opportunities: 

You'll have the opportunity to connect with nonprofit leaders, school district administrators, community partners, healthcare professionals, and other mission-driven individuals working to improve youth health outcomes. 

Real-World Impact: 

Your work will directly support the delivery of health and wellness programming to teens across area, contributing to measurable improvements in student health knowledge, leadership skills, and community engagement.
